Just wondering, after the Gophers have won back to back national championships in 2017-18 in their 4th and 5th final four*, will the CofC asst. helper controversy from 2005 bite Pitino again when he decides to take the Duke job? Doc has been waiting nearly a decade to get his justice. Will he up the ante and continue his crusade in 2018?

*technically 3rd and 4th due to 1997 vacated final four

Ruesse is not letting this go. What is he trying to say, that Rich is a lying scumbag that is going to run a dirty program? I don't understand what he's trying to accomplish. Usually when he acts like a dick he actually had some semblance of a reason. There is nothing here. Why is he still talking about it. His last 20 tweets have been about this.

Reusse said "Answer: It’s not a big deal, at all." He's just entertaining himself, he's not trying to accomplish something. He's not implying it's an O'Leary situation and getting bent out of shape like dr threefirstnames is. It's not going to be on his U of M biography on the website. Case closed.

I think if those clowns come back, we should let them know this board settles it's diffences at Bogarts on Tuesdays at 9:00.

This isn't a big story, but I can only imagine what the gopher hole reaction would be if this same thing happened with a coach hired at Wisconsin or Iowa.

This isn't O'Leary, but I don't think its something that should be off limits to talk about

It's a timeline issue. The email from the head coach that says, "Yes, Rich Pitino did work for me" is enough to put this to bed.

Oh.My.God. Bogart's has a webcam, and it looks like the fight went down. I captured the video below.

Dude, nobody cares. Thanks for letting us know about your credentials. I'm sure Pitino putting that on his resume has been absolutely devastating to your career, Dr. And clearly you aren't bitter at all...

Listen, I could care less about what any of you all say about me or my character. I have a PhD in Economics and have been out of coaching for two years after 6 as a Division 2 assistant while also being a full-time college professor. I have absolutely nothing to do with Louisville, Florida, FIU, etc.

I initially contacted the University of Minnesota directly to get this corrected, and they still have yet to respond in any way to me directly. So then others became involved.

Press releases came out 2 days ago saying Pitino was an Administrative Assistant for 2004-2005 at the College of Charleston. I WAS. Pitino came on board in August 2005 (best case), and by best estimates he stayed a couple months. That is the 2005-2006 season, but he left shortly thereafter to go with Ron Everhart to Northeastern and apparently wanted to claim his brief stay at Charleston. However, on his resume that has been acquired, he has been saying and claiming that he was the Administrative Assistant there that 04-05 season, including the 18-10 record. It started at Duquesne and has continued on to now at Minnesota. Whats the difference between that and George O'Leary stretching taking a few master's degree classes and actually having a masters degree?

When those releases came out, I had coaching friends accusing me of being a liar on my resume, since there is no way that the Pitino name would be a liar, and he had Louisville, Florida, FIU, and now Minnesota saying he was right. I may no longer be in coaching, but I still have pride in Pitino doing what amounts to plagiarizing my job and stuff. Yes he did not need it because he could ride his dad's name, but he still did it, and it's been involved in his bios since about how he worked his way up from the ground to get it. That is my motivation and level of agitation about this, and why I am pushing it like this. I will also lose lifelong coaching friends over it, since they are also being contacted now to fact-check everything. I am not bitter about anything. I am upset that Pitino has again done "professional plagiarism", and now people are attempting to call me out on my resume/career because of his lies.

Through the Star Tribune, Minnesota/Pitino have already put out a few things that they have been called out on, and they keep backtracking and blaming someone else. No one has fact checked or called him out on it until now. In my opinion, no one bothered fact-checking his resume and it kept going as the Gospel truth, a la George O'Leary. Now there is someone who is calling and fact-checking everything. This has more than legs and is going to be out more soon.

I have already sent others stacks of links and photocopies of documents to 100% prove everything I have said. I'm not a liar, I'm not irrational, and I'm not some loon. I'm a hard-working former coach who is beyond upset that someone has been claiming my job and my work his entire career, i.e. professional plagiarism. I have nothing to gain from this. If anything, I will lose more because I will undoubtedly lose a couple of my coaching friends who will see me as a snitch. However, there are more important things than that, such as pride, honesty, and someone not stealing your work and accomplishments.

Wow. . . I never reclicked on this link because I just assumed it was bickering between pro Tubby people making a big ado about nothing. But, I never imagined this loon would show up to our board with this craziness.

Congrats, you have a PhD. There are tons of people on this board with advanced degrees.

Pitino did not steal your work. You can't plagarize a profession. Even if he never worked at CofC, he didn't steal the work from you. He did a job that you're claiming he didn't do but you cuddle with birds. You have to ask yourself, what would be the point of him making this up? His resume looks almost exactly the same with or without the CofC. He was getting the job at Northeastern with or without the CofC. So what? It means nothing. He didn't do the job long enough for you to consider it relevant? Well guess what? Your opinion doesn't matter. He didn't lie about the position (according to the actual coach).

We should all be proud of what we have done and stand up for what we believe in. A message board may not be the right place to air our issues but sometimes people just want to be recognized for what they have accomplished. For Scott that is his time as an assistant college coach that someone else is claiming as their work. How would you feel after you put your heart and soul into your job for someone else to take the credit and advance in your field? I am sure you would be mad and try to convince the boss it was your work. That is all he is trying to do. He got his doctorate after many years of hard work at University of South Carolina (how about reading a little more than a joke about klingon) and sacrificed time with family to try to get into coaching. Scott is a good man who tries to take help his friends, students and family and is a good uncle. He has even volunteered his time to help at kids basketball camps around the country. However, he has struggled to get where he is and to have a bunch of people degrade him for wanting the recognition he deserves instead of allowing someone else to take the credit is wrong. How about a little understanding instead of making a joke out of someone who has worked hard to get where they are and didn't have it given to them instead of automatically supporting someone just cause they got hired as a coach somewhere. I know some troll will have a dumb comment about what I have posted so I will go ahead and tell you, yes I am his brother. I have seen him struggle and drive from one side of the state to the other for coaching opportunities. If everyone of you worked and tried as hard as he has in your chosen field then you can cast a stone. I am just saying give credit where credit is due.

Why are you encouraging his behavior?

He is a grown man that is in such desperation for attention that he is looking for it on anonymous internet message boards. We've all worked hard to where we are in life, but I don't show up to his bird snuggling sessions and ask for props for working my way through school. Do you know why? I'm comfortable in my life. I don't need the recognition from strangers to make myself feel better. This isn't a rip on the good doctor, but he needs to do some serious soul searching and you as his loved ones need to push him to worry about his own life. He seems obsessed with Richard Pitino, probably because things have always been easier for Rich. It's an insignificant technicality that isn't a bold faced lie. It's been confirmed that Rich was there for a short period of time. Rich isn't going out of his way to silence the good doctor and make sure he doesn't put it on his resume.

I'm sure he's a great guy, but if you expected people not to make jokes about him, you're as delusional as he is.

Lastly, be his brother and show some tough love. Don't tolerate this obsessive nonsense and push him to improve his life to a point where he doesn't need to worry about this one tiny thing from years ago. His insecurities are obvious, from his screen name to his post. . .he needs attention. So go give him a hug, tell him you love and encourage him to move on with his life.

Also, we had a chance to speak with current Marshall head coach Tom Herrion, who was the head coach at College of Charleston back in 2005 and hired Pitino for his first college job. Pitino was an admin there -- director of basketball operations is how Herrion remembers the title, though he wasn't positive.

There has been some question, sparked by an e-mailer, about how long and when Pitino was at the school. His bio at Florida International, Florida and Louisville said he was there for the 2004-05 season. That was an administrative oversight, Pitino said through a Gophers spokesman, and will be corrected. Pitino said through that spokesman that he was at Charleston for three months between the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. That was the same thing Herrion said. Pitino was hired in the summer shortly after graduating from Providence and stayed until early fall, when there was an assistant coach opening at Northeastern that he filled. So he was certainly at the school; the time frame needs an adjustment.

Herrion said the admin job at Charleston didn't even have a salary. Pitino had his rent paid at a one-room studio apartment and had a meal card at the school cafeteria. That was it, Herrion said. Taking the job at Northeastern was a no-brainer, Herrion added.

"I made it clear to him that the job (at Charleston) was what it was. It was an entry level position. It was the bottom of the food chain. Laundry, class checks. There was a lot of non-glamorous stuff. But he never rode his dad’s coattails. He's a humble young man who worked really hard," Herrion said.
