Gophers QB comitt transfering high schools

He still wasn't gonna start.
This was always a really weak recruiting decision.

You’re always showing up like a wet fart man

He goes from the #3 to #15 ranked CA HS program per maxpreps. MD loses 2x 5*, 4X 4*, and 5x 3* players, among others. MH loses 1x 3 start player. Also came off a serious injury this year. I think a little context helps here.

I’m skeptical about this recruitment too but the staff has been doing well on QBs lately. Let’s just see how his senior year plays out

The only thing worse than the transfer portal in college fb is the transfer portal for California hs football. All the kids are doing it these days.

Drake looks good. Besides that what HS recruits have we hit on?

I would call Tanner Morgan a hit. Kaliakmanis also developed into a serviceable college QB. Haven't really tracked the guys that have transferred out.

Kaliakmanis was bad for us and needed to transfer to a new school and play under their coaching staff just to be adequate. I wouldn't call that a hit by any means. He was a miss for sure.

As for others, that tall kid from Texas (Jacob Clark?) who threw one pass against Iowa didn't seem to do much. There was one other one that transferred too that I can't think of. And then the QB from IMG (Annexstad) whom Tanner replaced never did much that I'm aware of.

The number of teams relying on transfer QBs every year is a pretty good indication that it is tough to find good QBs and develop them in house.

Jacob Clark put up some really impressive stats at Missouri State the past 2 years. Would have been interesting if he would have stayed. Also kinda surprised he didn't try and transfer back up woth those stats.

Sometimes it's better to be a big fish in a small pond!

One crazy anecdote about Jacob Clark is he was throwing to Jaxon Smith-Njigba at Rockwall High school.

I'd agree with you on that. I was only talking about the staffs ability to identify HS talent and get them to produce for MN, based on the posters previous post.

Max was a good hit. Morgan was great for a year. Besides that I would say he was mid at best.

Morgan. I know you aren't a fan but he was an above average Big Ten qb and got invited to an NFL camp.
IMO he was GREAT in 2019. Besides that I feel he was a below average to average B10 QB, which in my mind isn't a hit. But he was not terrible.
