Gophers open as 4 point underdogs at home against Wisconsin

If I were a gambling man I’d drop a fair amount on that. The line means nothing, other than an opportunity for profit.

Interesting. I was expecting 3 points either way.

Awesome, was really hoping Vegas would make us home underdogs again....love it.

How did that work out in the Penn State game again? I forget.

Love being the underdog. Especially at home.

Understandable. A team's reputation is built on years, not months.

straight up comical

I think they’d make the Gophers a home dog to even a 3 or 4 loss SEC team at this point

Sagarin had WI over MN by seven points. Take away three points for home field advantage for MN and there you go- a four point spread.
As has been mentined ad nauseam the spread is to have equal amounts of $ bet on each team.
It has nada, nothing, zero, zilch to do with prejudice for or against any team.
This is a very paranoid group.

Just another week to beat the spread. Make it 8 of 9 conference games.

Looking forward to being +21 against Ohio State the following week. Gophers keep winning but their computer ranking won't budge, even past Iowa State or Texas A&M

If we tackle well and maintain gap integrity I think we can win. If we tackle like they revert to on occasion and allow Taylor to cut back ... then I think we have a rough time with the Badgers. I think this game lies in the hands of the defense ... if they step up Gophers could win.

Yup - the Gophers have to maintain discipline on Defense.

Missed tackles are typically a symptom of a problem, not the problem itself.

According to Fleck on WCCO this morning, they didn't prepare at all for the offense that Northwestern ran when Marty came in and I think that was the main reason why our guys missed as many tackles as they did yesterday.

I think we'll do a decent job of bottling Taylor up and not allowing the big play.

If Taylor has a good or great day Mn will have a very hard time winning.

Gophers are going to tear Bucky Badger a new hole. It's the Gophers time to prove there is a new Sherrif in the West Division.

I think this game is going to be won/lost on the other side of the ball.

Morgan has struggled w/ inclement weather in the past. Minnesota's receivers need to get a ton of separation to deal with decreased accuracy.

Lots of double moves against corners on slippery ground should take care of it.

I don't think Chryst is going to come out throwing against Winfield in the snow so Minnesota should be able to help themselves in the run game, and just play single-high.

If lots of Penn St fans bet on it, probably well.

What inclement weather games are you referring to?

It rained against Nebraska and his ball was coming out high. Obviously 8 for 13 is still good stats, but UW's defensive backs will be better than Nebraska's and those high balls could turn into interceptions.

Nebraska game...you are kidding, right?

No, I'm definitely not. He was floating balls over the middle and threw Johnson right into a safety at one point. This forum is quick to forget because it was a huge win and the numbers looked good.

Kamal Martin didn't impress last week in his return; hopefully he's back up to speed for this one and ready to make an impact. If he doesn't have a big game, it's probably gonna be a long day for the defense.
