I was speaking to the father of a Gophers player this week, and he said it's a credit to the culture coach Jerry Kill has created around the program and the recruits he's brought in since taking over in December 2010.

I was actually just talking about this to someone the other day. I remember when arrests were quite common, and Kill simply doesn't tolerate that behavior. The players used to tweet from the club at 2am, now they (when they're no on a social media hiatus) tweet about going to bed at 10am for 6am workouts.

This is one area where the SEC is truly leading the charge.

I think you meant 10pm.

To me it is one of those things that is so simple yet so brilliant. Workout at 6AM and players won't be as likely to be up late partying. Not up late = less likely to get in trouble.

Thanks for posting this Nadine. This along with the improvement in Minnesota's APR says volumes about Jerry Kill and his staff. He truly is a builder of men.

The sad thing is, some recruits do take into account which schools have a reputation for shielding them from trouble. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

LOL! Who thinks Jerry Kill doesn't run a tight ship. This is training for real life. Liars, cheats, thieves, lazy butkuses, & druggies need apply elsewhere.

Could be wrong but it seemed the troubles at Iowa mirrored the team's great 2002-05 run as their recruiting rank grew.

There will be Gophers arrested. Barring some obscene string of arrests, I'd rather judge the SEC, Ferentz, Kill, etc, on the response by the head coach.

Eagerly awaiting the half dozen articles of this good news from the local scribes. Positive articles about any part of Gopher athletics is still allowed right?

Yes. But not getting arrested is not news.

At the stroke of midnight, Dr. Jekyll turns into Mr. Hyde. It is best to keep the testosterone infused beasts in bed by 10:00 PM. It seems that Minneapolis police are the busiest at bar closing time.
