Gophers: Big Ten Champs 2014 – Start Believing

IF the Kansas City Fricken Royals can make World Series after 29 years why not us?

That 1967 in TCF stadium needs to be replaced by 2014. This is the last year we will have David Cobb and Damien Wilson Tommy Olson, Cameron Botticelli, Zach Epping, Cederic Thompson on the team. Tese are all important BRICKS and big parts of this seasons success so far. The Gophers have come this far, why let the dream die now?
1967 needs 2014 to follow it in TCF stadium, then you will know that this group of guy's left an important legacy.
All we can do as fans is let the team play them one game at a time, win each game and put another BRICK in the wall.
BEAT ILLINOIS and ruin their homecoming, SKU-U-Mah!!!

After watching Big Ten Football...and Beyond & BTN Live last night the dream of making the playoff is foolish. Even our own conference pundits aren't even considering the possibility, unlikely as it may be, that we have a chance. If we run the table, which would include, for instance, a win over MSU in the B1G title game, and sit at 12-1 we will not be invited to the playoff. I know 12-1 is farfetched, but someone needs to start making our case before it's too late. We could finish 6-5 and efforts would be wasted, but what a tragedy if we catch lightening in a bottle and get snubbed?

The BTN Live guys aren't the ones picking the playoff teams, and neither are the AP voters or most media members. I have faith (naïvely perhaps) that the committee will sit down and look at each school's résumé objectively and sort through the BS propagated by ESPN and the rest of the media to find the 4 teams that deserve to be in the playoff the most. I'm hoping that it will be very similar to the NCAA basketball tournament selection committee in that regard, and they do a good job of selecting and seeding teams.

Exactly. I trust they'll pick the right teams. The committee members won't give a lick about perception, or what ESPN feeds everyone. The committee is there to pick the teams, ESPN's job will be to televise the games.

The one thing I am concerned about is if the committee will choose the teams that most deserve to be there based on résumé or if they'll attempt to pick what they believe are the 4 best teams.

It’s time to keep building our confidence and belief Brick by Brick!!!

Here is the number #1 reason that I am extremely confident in the Golden Gophers winning the Big Ten Championship: Mitch Leidner. His toe and knee seem to not be bothering him anymore. We can finally run the zone read with effectively because Leidner can bust a long run now. The defense cannot stack the middle of the defense anymore. Furthermore, he seems to have gained great confidence in his passing game.

Here’s how I see the season ending:

I will recant and earlier statement that I made saying that the wear and tear of the Big Ten schedule will hurt JT Barrett. Unfortunately, he has impressed me more and more as the season has elapsed. However, after Theiren Cockran comes around the end and derails Barrett just like he did to Taylor Martinez, JT will get jittery in the pocket and start making some mistakes. Gophers gain momentum. Cobb gets unleashed. Gophers roll.

Nebraska has a terrible quarterback. We stack up against the run and man up on the outside, shut them down and let our offense dominate.

Wisconsin – see above

We will be playing The Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship game. We’ll send a few trick plays their way to edge them out in the final minutes of game.

BIG TEN CHAMPS!!!

From here, we will have time to prepare for the College Football Playoffs. How could the Gophers make it into the playoffs?

1) We beat 4 straight ranked teams in the final 4 weeks.
2) We give OSU there first Big Ten loss in 21 games.
3) There will only be one undefeated team - FSU
4) Mississippi State will lose twice, Alabama, ASU, and Baylor will all lose again.
5) #1 – FSU, #2 TCU, #3 Oregon, #4 GOPHER.NATION.

Here are the reasons the Gophers will be chosen:

1) We are the story of the year
2) JERRY JERRY JERRY!!! – a guy who runs a no nonsense, tough program while making academics a priority and graduating his players
3) One of our two losses was against TCU and we held them to their lowest point total
4) SEC champ Missouri will have lost to the worst Big Ten team in the conference

stroke the post, let’s go . . . SKI-U-MAH!!!

we comin . . . WE COMIN!!!

^ I'll have what he's having.

A tidbit about odds.

Every month, about 3200 "impossible" odd moments happen. Lightning strikes a person, a shark attacks, a lottery is won, etc.

Why wouldn't the Gophers have a chance at being one of the long odd events? They have as good of a chance as any as long as the execute, execute, execute.

well . . . my national championship hopes and dreams were gashed last week, but I am still seeing a Big Ten Championship in 16 days!!!

Our offense looks like things are really starting to click. Once Wolitarski is healthy and we have Jones back on the outside, we will be able to be much more explosive on offense. Our O line has looked solid the past two weeks. And Leidner is starting to groove . . .

Our defense is solid. A few missed assignments away from keep the OSU game much tighter.

We will beat NE and we will be in a dog fight against WI, but GOPHER.NATION. will prevail!!! SKI-U-MAH!!!

Then we will beat OSU as our D locks em up and we take down another Big Ten Championship!!!

on a side note responding to the post above: Indiana has not won a Big Ten Game; hence, Indiana is the worst team in the Big Ten

well . . . here we are. The final week of the regular season. Win one more game and we are playing for the B1G Ten Championship. Our squad will be fully prepared for battle on Saturday. Our D has been put to the test the past couple games. We have missed a few assignments here and there that have been extremely costly. If we take care of business defensively, we will take home the mighty axe and prepare to beat OSU!!!

SKI-U-MAH!!!

Any new believers this week? I just hope the naysayers do not have to wait until we have won a championship or multiple championships before they start believing in this program . . .

Hello GopherNation. Last week I was trying to remember what thread your prognostication was in. Here it is!! Thanks for bringing this back up to the top. I just wanted to say you were so right and your prediction was nothing short of amazing in my mind. For me, this is definitely the coolest thing I've ever witnessed on Gopherhole and one of the greatest predictions I've ever seen in sports. Hats off to thee sir. You have my vote by far for Thread and Post of the Year! After TCU, I was one pessimistic dude. I thought you were bonkers. You taught me a good life lesson.
