One of the major themes that came out during DL65's annual GopherHole survey was the desire for more Where Are They Now profiles on former Gopher greats. We are very excited that this is an area of interest for our community as it is something we really enjoy writing and hope that our readers get value out of. There have been some amazing athletes and personalities that have worn maroon and gold over the years and we believe in the importance of recognizing their contributions and remembering the great stories and accomplishments at The U.

Since we have so many new readers on GopherHole.com since our first profile ran back in 2004, we wanted to create a "Where Are They Now" library per se, to re-publish the more than 30 interviews and profiles we have written over the years. From the first interview with the legendary Murray Warmath to profiles on Gopher greats in basketball, football, baseball, hockey, etc., we hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed interviewing these legends.

We will continue to bring you this popular series and encourage you to send your profile ideas to us, as well as any contact information on the former Gophers for us to reach out to. We ask that you send these requests and/or contact information to our [email protected] e-mail.

Thank You!!

GopherHole Staff,

Thank you for posting the link to past interviews. They (interviews) should keep us busy for a few days. It's always good to reconnect and learn about the sports heroes, traditions and legacies of Golden Gopher athletics. A great way to introduce the players and coaches of the past to our younger members and rekindle memories for old timers, such as myself.

Go Gophers!!

Just wondering - there were a lot of requests for more WATN interviews...does anyone have any former Gopher athletes, in particular, they would like to read about?

Good question, GopherLady!

I sent one suggestion to GopherHole Staff via the comments address/link.

Some former football players that I'd like to read about would be Mike Wright, captain of the 1959 Gopher team. He enjoyed great success after his playing days in commerce. I sent his name to GopherHole Staff. Another player would be Billy Bye. Bye played for Bernie Bierman, 1946-1949. Great player and a very successful high school football coach. As a youngster in Detroit Lakes, I looked up to him when he was coaching the Lakers in 1956 and when he worked at the city's summer Rec program. He then moved on to the suburban Lake Conference. He's served on the U's Men's Athletics Advisory Board.

Others: Jeff Wright, Milt Sunde, Duane Blaska . . . and the list goes on and on.

I'll give it some thought and forward more suggestions to the GopherHole Staff.

Go Gophers!!
