This is why there need to be contracts.

Obviously you can't physically chain people down ..... but she should NOT be allowed to play right away for another program next year.:mad::mad::mad:

Is Minnesota such an elite preferred destination, outside of Minnesota Volleyball Players, that many of us feel, think or wish is true?

For once, if and when we see a recruiting assistant brought on board in this program, I am hoping we can take advantage of the transfer portal that has, unfortunately, seen the likes of some of our TOP RECRUITS in the past few years. It is time, that we benefit from it like other programs are, with our developed players.

I'm hoping Cook will do a better job of that, I didn't know until the press conference that he didn't have a single transfer leave in his 8 years as Wash HC

No, she deserves the chance to make that mistake and find a better fit for her. It sucks as a fan but anything else is unfair to the student athletes.

Taylor Landfair is the Indispensible One.

(It's actually several players but losing Landfair would be a disaster for all).

NO.

Imagine if a first-round pick came into the NFL, played on the team for one year, and was like "I don't like it here, I'm leaving".

BULLS___T. That's makes a S___TY product.

That said, there still has been no Tweet or Insta post yet.

That means this is still just rumors. It means there is still time. Likely, indeed, Cook and hopefully whatever major vball boosters that exist, are trying to talk her -- and let's be honest, HER DAD -- out of this awful, and silly, decision that they think they need to make.

I'll never wish a player to be injured, no matter what.

But if the unthinkable happens ....... then I hope she fails and has a terrible career with no chance at Olympic team or major pro teams.

Listen I love gopher sports more than anyone, but you’ve got to learn to see them as people and not just athletes. Yeah. It sucks as a fan. In a lot of ways, so does NIL. But these are people—kids, but most standards—and that’s more important than the “product.” I advise you to back down, *delete your most recent tweet*, and try to see them as more than just “players” before I and the majority of others in these forums lose any respect we had for you.

I’ve never in my whole life been embarrassed to be a gopher fan but it seems you’re trying hard to change that

Nope.

This is P5, and top 10 level programs.

All-star teams in college volleyball WILL destroy the sport. I will stop watching it and hope a lot of other people will too. F that.

I'm not for everyone. Obviously. I'm one person and in no way representative of an entire fanbase.

That's also why I deleted my VT account.

p.s. based on this, we’d all be grateful if you stopped watching because we don’t want you representing the gophers, the University of Minnesota, or the state in any way

I make bonehead mistakes and then change my mind. Nobody is perfect. Online is easy to rush misguided words.

Clearly here you were expressing disappointment and then used the wrong words to express that.

If it comes to pass, disappointment won’t be the correct word. It would be disgusted.

To transfer when we gave you a starting spot in the best vball conference in the nation as a true freshman …
… to then transfer IN conference, where we’ll have to play you …
…… to then transfer to our most hated rival (in all sports), where we’ll have to play you twice per year.

Absolutely disgusting.

Spitting in the faces of Gopher fans. That’s what that is.

I’m sorry to be such an asshole and a jackass — as I absolutely was in the previous posts and continue to be in this one — but this is what I feel.

I hope beyond hope that someone gets to her and her dad and helps them understand that it cannot be Wisconsin. Cannot. That that is like burning down the hospital where you were born as you walk out the door and then setting fire to the bridge on the way it of town.

Penn State, Purdue, Nebraska … still sucks, but fine. Cannot be Wisconsin.

I would never wish this on anyone, but I hope it's another Lexi Sun situation if she does decide to transfer to Wisconsin.

Every student has the right to transfer. Some do because the school/city is a poor fit, they want to be closer to home, they have personal or family problems, etc. However, non-athletes learn that some credits do not transfer to a new school and that they will lose their scholarships. Most scholarships are awarded to freshmen so it is hard for non-athletes to get as much monies by transferring. Therefore, some students decide that they cannot afford to switch schools. Athletes often are looking for more playing time and a winning team; however, they usually don't go to another team unless they can get a similar or better scholarship. Furthermore, athletes now can transfer to get additional monies through NIL. I do think there should be some limits on athletes transferring such as one free transfer and then each additional transfer should result in sitting out for a year. Multiple transfers impede academic progress greatly, although "student-athlete" is an oxymoron in some cases. I also would like to see a rule (again) that you can't transfer within a conference or you will have to sit out a year first. This would reduce poaching within a conference and bad relations. I am really curious about the creative counting and transferring of credits that Athletic Departments are able to get Universities to do for athletes transferring once or especially more times. I have fought for credits and requirements for non-athletes who transferred and found it difficult to make universities budge.

Of course.

And that's why the NCAA, or at least the Big Ten, needs to (re-)institute the rule saying that you can transfer but you have to sit out the next season.

Give you time to adjust to the new school, team, city/culture, and all of it.

Another great rule would be: if you're not eligible for a given season, then you're not allowed to earn NIL for that year.

Still no announcement.

The longer it drags out, the more hope there is.
