Gopher Softball 2024

Stanford lost today to Kentucky and didn't pitch Canady, should be advantage for gophers that she would pitch their first game tomorrow

People say win the games you're suppose to and you will have a decent season...so far, so good!

Exactly. Gophers need to pick up a few wins against the ranked 20-25 teams! Last night was a good start. Those are wins that go a long way at selection time.

Too early to get a feel for three freshmen pitchers but Schwartz, Enter, and Hambrick can all be effective if they can command the zone.

Once the nerves settled, Enter looked great for about four innings before she started to miss her spots just a bit. That San Diego State lineup can hit if a pitcher isn’t on her game.

Defense was solid, although I’m wondering if Oakland has some nagging little arm injury. Her throws didn’t seem to have the same zip as last season.

The Gophers didn’t do much against the Aztecs’ best pitcher. We will likely see two pitchers of her caliber or better against Stanford (especially if we see Canady) and Kentucky (if we get Schoonover).

And those two running mishaps getting doubled off could have resulted in more runs!
Was hoping to see Hooper over Strelow but don’t think the coaching staff would bench a 5th year.

Was Lindmark injured when she transferred to MN? Always thought he was a good hitter for PSU. Can’t imagine she transferred to MN to sit the bench?

2 out single and 3 walks on 13 pitches for stanford run

Then Hambrick hits first batter. She’s got to get her control in order. Need more out of the upperclassman. Score not going to show how well of a game this was until last inning.

Schwartz was dealing in the first few innings, of course no help from the offense and then we lose the game late. Same story as last year. Let's hope they have a better outing against UCSB again.

Both teams with 4 hits. Agree, this team has had the same issue the past few years where the bottom of order is a struggle.

Do we know if Snippes is redshirting?

Softball doesn't redshirt unless it is a medical redshirt.

It was a good game, even though it got away a little at the end. A 3-0 loss to the #3 team in the country isn't anything to be disappointed about.

We were very fortunate that Krapf and Ehlke came up big for them in the 7th. Glad that they were able to come up with another win.

0-5 weekend with 3 run rules for St Thomas, figured they'd be bit more competitive

Not a fan of Schwartz hitting and playing the field. Her bat is a big struggle and it leads to being tired in the field. When she’s on pitching she’s been great but then totally with go on a streak of walking batters.
