Is jensen still not 100% with defensive sub most games?
Looking at the remaining schedule for both Michigan and Minnesota, with that loss to Iowa earlier today it looks to me like the Gophers will need to win at least 3 of 4 at home against Michigan to win the Big Ten. Totally doable - Michigan doesn’t look overly awesome.Michigan thrown out at home to end 5th down by 2
Yeah, I thought it was a given that the Gophers would likely have to take three of four from Michigan.Looking at the remaining schedule for both Michigan and Minnesota, with that loss to Iowa earlier today it looks to me like the Gophers will need to win at least 3 of 4 at home against Michigan to win the Big Ten. Watching the MI vs. NW game, got up to refill the coffee, just in time to miss an inside-the-park grand slam by Michigan. No replay. I've never seen that happen (above maybe 10U). Darn it.
I think by not sweeping Iowa & Purdue the Gophers have lost their chance at a BIG title. It's mystifying that they never make any adjustments to left-handed changeup pitchers. One time through the order and those should be the easiest pitchers to hit ---if they learn to sit on the changeup, which they never do.Yeah, I thought it was a given that the Gophers would likely have to take three of four from Michigan.

Gophers lose the first to Iowa 3-1; win the second 5-4.So, what were the scores of today's games?
That was the worst defensive effort for NW. And should have been an error or just a single + errors. Ball through the legs of the SS, terrible throw to the plate. The rest were mental errors.Thanks. I saw a HS game where the ump called interference against the base runner blocking the SS on a play like that. Weird call. The home coach (team in the field) convinced the ump to call it and visiting coach went ballistic.

What chances do you give the Gophers in that series? I'm hoping for the best. Northwestern seems to have blown their chances this weekend, so now it's in the Gophers hands.I am sure the Big Ten Network is pleased with themselves by announcing at the beginning of the season that they will carry all four of the Michigan/Minnesota series on BTN. Obviously, no other B1G softball series received close to that kind of coverage this year.
It is like they knew this coming showdown would be for the Big Ten softball title.
Smartest pick is 2-2. Tough to beat Storako and Beaubien 3 times I would think. But... games are at home AND Michigan does have to play a make-up games against Michigan State on the Wednesday before our series, which I would think would help us.Don't know who to pick so a split?
A 2-2 series split wirh MI won't do for the Gophers to get the BIG title. That's where failing to sweep teams like Maryland, Purdue, and Iowa has hurt them. But a miracle is always possible, I guess.Smartest pick is 2-2. Tough to beat Storako and Beaubien 3 times I would think. You're right; the BIG East tends to be weaker in softball than the West. Their weaker schedule pretty guarantees MI an advantage in the regular season schedule. Most obvious example was in 2019.That Purdue loss did hurt.
As does what I believe is true, Michigan had an easier schedule than Minnesota, equivalent to one loss. You never know how games would have turned out that were not played, but they had short series against good teams Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and Wisconsin; while we had short series against Maryland, Ohio State, and Indiana. That allowed them to have 4 game series against bad teams Penn State, Michigan State, and Rutgers while we only got easy four games series against Purdue and Penn State. I think there is one loss in that strength of schedule difference.
