Gopher Ranking Thread- Gophers ARE NOW RANKED #25 CFN Poll

Do we achieve any Top 25 ranking at some point?

No you cannot change your vote, but you can change your opinion😁.

I don’t think we’ll be ranked in the Top 25, but I see us receiving some votes - gotta walk, before we run😃.

Wouldn't be shocked if we get some votes after this most recent win. Win over Rutgers would get us even more votes then when we upset Penn State we jump into the top 25 :)

Yup, the Gophers are now 6-3 and on a 4-game win streak. At this point we might pick up a few stray votes, since we're now 2-1 against teams that were in the top 25 when we played them. Beat Rutgers - really pound them in the burro - and there's a 50/50 chance of being ranked #25.

We would for sure be ranked if we win the next 2. We could possibly sniff an end of season ranking at 8-4 + win the bowl game.

I 👃another win Saturday and I think we demolish Rutgers and go into the game with Penn State ranked 24/25 or just outside, and we beat them anyway to be 8-3 for Whisky, then we’re definitely ranked.
It’s a mortal 🔒
Yes, we’re ranked #25 in College Football News and since the thread said any Poll -we’ll take it, can’t be any less accurate than others regarding a different subject🥳, Finally, a poll we can all agree on😃

Shout Out to my new favorite poster @Tech Machine for the has up

Regardless of the rankings, we are certainly one of the 25 best teams in football the last 4 1/2 games have been great.
Definitely and great point.

I also think some of the voters realize that doing this in conference against Two 25 teams, means a little bit more -then it just happening vs. non-conference patsies.

Oh, I don't know? Oregon and Indiana come to mind fairly quickly...guessing there are some more too who might rank ahead of us with 4 straight wins?
Best 4 game win streak team in the country - not 4+ win streak team. Like most of life - interpretation will impact your attitude towards what is being said.

Well sure, it's subjective but for example Oregon beat Ohio State ... a top 5 team.
Purdue 35 to zero
Illinois 38 to 9...certainly more convincing than we beat them.
and Michigan at Michigan 38 to 17. (we lost at Michigan to kick start our run)
That's their last 4.
For me to say the Gophers 4 game win streak is more impressive would be clouded in bias.

Neither Oregon nor Indiana are on 4 game win streaks.

Duh.

If we win the next 3 (Ill, Rutgers, PSU) that would almost certainly get us into the top 25 I would think. But that is probably the only scenario that gets us there during the season. After that the only hope of getting ranked would be a ranking in the final top 25 after the bowl game.
There are already 3 loss teams in the top 25
Iowa is up to 33 at 6-3
Washington up to 31 at 5-4

Minnesota is probably getting votes if they win next week and close if not ranked in going into Penn state game.

Simply put, the two things that make you ranked are;
Lack of losses
And
Conference affiliation

Other stuff comes a distant third to those things.

Right now there are 31 power 4 teams with 3 or fewer losses.
Even if there are no 4 or more losses teams beating a 3 or fewer loss team in the next 2 weeks. Those 31 teams will pick up 9 losses in the next two weeks.

Power 4 teams with 4 or fewer losses will combine for a minimum of 34 losses over the next two weeks.

5-4 Washington got votes.
Washington’s best two wins are Michigan and USC
They lost to Rutgers

Minnesota is 6-3
Best two wins are Illinois and USC/maryland

Gophers are close to getting votes. Not many teams to choose from
