These are potential Gopher targets?

If so Staton McCray (Samford) is a 6-5 guard averaged 11.5, not a great 3 point shooter although had a good year last year, shoots FTs at 80%

Brandon Love is a 6-9 forward (lean 200#) does his work close to the basket has never shot a 3 point shot in 3 years Averaged 10.4 pts- 5.4 rebs last year as a junior. Has some hops and blocked 1.4 shots per game last year

McCray started every game until post season. Came off the bench the conference tourney and in their NCAA game. Not finding a Brennan Love on Oregon.

Maybe so. He is in the portal. Good job deciphering.
Rigsby got an incredible 43 minutes against Creighton in the tournament and scored 0 points and had one rebound. For the year 22 minutes per game and 6 points. The only thing I can figure here is that he is a defensive specialist...?

McCray was Southern Conference All Defense. And he is 6'5"

maybe CBJ and staff going after practice players instead of going for the four star guys like the other bigten teams are doing

Looked up Samford's player stats. Their coach (Bucky McMillan) is the opposite of Ben Johnson when it comes to playing time. Here are the playing time team facts:

1) Not a single Samford player averaged 30 + minutes a game.
2) Only two players (Achor Achor, Dallas Graziani) started every game they played but Graziani was only 6th on the team in minutes per game at 18.5 minutes per game.
3) Only 4 players on the team averaged more than 20 minutes per game. The highest was Ryland Jones at 26 mpg.
4) 10 players averaged double figures in minutes per game. Their 11th and 12th players averaged 9.2 and 7.8 minutes per game in 34 and 30 games respectively.

Samford finished 29-6. Maybe there is a lesson here.

If Tyson can pledge millions in NIL to Arkansas, FedEx $25M to Memphis, Berkshire-Hathaway money at Nebraska, why are there no large companies in Mnpls that can support the UofM? General Mills, Target, Hormel, Xcel, Land-0-Lakes, USBancorp, 3M, BestBuy, United Health? FFS, why is it so difficult? This is the world now. DTA looks weak imo.
Those other places don't have professional sports. Minnesota is a small community for so many professional sports with which to share the love

Target's causes they support are polar opposites to supporting FB & men's basketball.

And there's no money to be made. No advertising. This isn't naming rights to an arena. This is strictly if the CEO is a Gopher fan like we are and wants to buy a winning team.
Target's customers are suburban women...not be supporters of Men's FB & BB

I’ve been scouring the web and can’t find any dirt. Maybe he’s been swallowed by the portal.
It's too bad we don't have any Gopher hoops reporters in the local media who have actual sources and are plugged in. Unfortunately, we just have to wait for news to break from national media every time something happens.

Ryan James is a good guy it seems and is connected to the high school scene but when it comes to the Gophers he has just about as many quality sources as you or I or anyone else on GH.

Playing time 😎
I'm sure there are players out there that would still value the experience over the money.....but they are getting harder and harder to find and they won't be the top of the line guys.

I can't even imagine what it is like trying to work the portal as a coach. In high school recruiting you have time to get to know the players, their families, the people around them. In the portal you have to vet the players while battling a ton of other schools for the same players. And you have to do it all in a ridiculously short amount of time.

Might as well just let all the kids enter the portal that want to. Then get all your money together and have an auction. Once it’s complete you have your team, bid on who you want, ignore others. I was a huge college basketball fan, ran my own pools, loved everything about it. Not any more, my sons youth hockey is where it’s at for me.
