Gopher portal visits and signings

This is not true. According to another poster if Jaxon Howard can just add another 20 pounds at age 21 and gets to 270lbs could play D Tackle!

Only the likes of Georgia can have multiple stud d tackles, just not sure why so many are having unrealistic expectations at filling this position. Let Sunram or someone else on the roster fill it.

Get some guys, portal and internal, and let them compete! Need guys to stay low, get off the ball, deliver a blow, not be moved and grab legs! .... and play with an edge... ......and love conract.....

Let me say that I think TJ Bush is a very good player and a great "get" in the portal. I'm happy to have him on the team. But am I the only one a little confused by this? The Gophers already have Smith, Menz and Howard back as DE's. Very good core. Now we add Bush as a one-and-done.

I mean, he seems like a good get. I just never thought DE would be a position of need unless you went after a guy with multiple years. Getting a one and done guy for that spot was not on my portal bingo card.
Now he could take a big step up, but right now Howard is a depth guy vs a difference maker. The ability to rush the passer without bringing the house is vitally important.

Any chance that injured Purdue DT transfer from last year will play?
Unfortunately we probably won't know until we see if he is listed on the spring roster. He only had the one year of eligibility but didn't play due to injury so highly possible he has another year available and he hasn't gone into the portal.

Ha!

I played against him at SLP Lifetime (I think?) years ago. He was a shockingly athletic massive human being.
Awesome. Hope you didn't run into any screens. SLP Lifetime used to have some notable faces at their Men's League.

If any of the "ends" were to move inside, one would think it would be Anthony Smith. Being 6-6 285, he probably only needs 10-15 lbs. Not sure he would want to though. As for the NFL, he is probably not an edge in a 3-4, so he would be a strong side left DE in a 4-3. If he can get close to 300, he can play either ends in a 3-4.

Moving the team’s best pass rusher to the interior doesn’t seem wise for the team or Anthony.

Yeah, there is zero chance Smith is moved inside on a permanent basis. In certain specific situations it could make a lot of sense to move him inside but he will do most of his damage from the outside.

As long as we can shore up the interior line it will be a lot of fun seeing what Smith and Menz can do next year. Having two really good DE like that can be a massive weapon and loved what I saw out of Menz this past season.

he already slides inside in certain pass rush packages
