Gopher Football currently holds a 994 APR score. The 4th highest in the country #1 for public universities. "For all the right reasons".

For all the right reasons Indeed!

Just another reason Jerry Kill is doing an amazing job with this program.

Jerry Kill - By the book and looking after the best interest of his players.

What more adulation can we bestow on this man?

Wow. I'm a charter member of the "Kill Can Do No Wrong Club" but this even blows me out of the water.

And yes, for the record, there have been some wrongs (North Carolina backout comes to mind) but he, the coaches, players, administration, Gopherholers, and even Reusse are only human.

Really nice to see.

And I still haven't forgotten how a few idiots here thought Kill was too hard on the team when he first took over. One guy even compared it to the coaching style he used with his JV team, or whatever the hell it was. Since Holtz and then Clem, I've been pretty cynical about coaches, but Kill has totally convinced me he's about as good as it gets in his approach.

Gotta Love Kill

I've said it plenty of times already but I'll say it again. I love the way this staff recruits the right young men and develops them on and off the field. It makes it that much easier to root for them.

We just need to get the facilities upgrade done and otherwise threat him right.

Yes indeed. Kill makes men out of boys. I couldn't be more proud of this APR result.

BTW - I still love all the AJ apologists who ripped on Kill for being too hard on him. What a bunch of positive affirmation pussies!

Congrats U of M Football and Go Gophers!

Agree 100%. Thinking back to the Barker "controversy" is just mind-boggling. I really can't believe the media gave him the opportunity to legitimize his beliefs. They were banking on him being a whistle blower, but turns out he was just a quack.

Big congrats to Kill for his leadership, and more importantly to all of the players who are working hard to get the most out of this great educational opportunity they have. Under Kill, I like our players' future prospects much better than I have in the past both in terms of playing professional football and having a meaningful career in another field. They are supposed to be students first, and this program is finally acting like that is the case. Love it.

A lot of people thought Urban Meyer should have gotten the B1G Coach of the Year last year. It's reasons like this that I think they got it right - even with the National Championship.

Does anyone have access to previous year's APR's? It'd be interesting to look at how they have changed over the past several years, perhaps from the start of Brew's time to this year. Anyone up for that homework?

Here it is - we have much to be proud of under Coach Kill:

Sport School State Academic Year Multi-Year Rate Penalties Postseason
Football University of Minnesota, Twin Cities MN 2004 - 2005 918
Football University of Minnesota, Twin Cities MN 2005 - 2006 919
Football University of Minnesota, Twin Cities MN 2006 - 2007 927
Football University of Minnesota, Twin Cities MN 2007 - 2008 915 Immediate Penalty - Scholarship Reduction = 3

Football University of Minnesota, Twin Cities MN 2008 - 2009 934
Football University of Minnesota, Twin Cities MN 2009 - 2010 935
Football University of Minnesota, Twin Cities MN 2010 - 2011 932
Football University of Minnesota, Twin Cities MN 2011 - 2012 955
Football University of Minnesota, Twin Cities MN 2012 - 2013 962

Problem with this example is that Glasscock is citing the one-year APR for a school year that ended two years ago, not this current year.

^ ^ ^ Turd in the punchbowl alert!

And no...2 years ago it was 962.

Try to keep up.

Interesting that Brewster bumped it up compared to Mason.

Awesome work by Kill and co. On a purely practical note, establishing the program as elite academically is a great recruiting strategy. It really differentiates the Gophers from other similar programs.

Nope. Glasscock was citing the single-year APR 2012-13 figure. It was 994. The 2012-13 APR was 962.

He took a single-year APR and called it 'APR' and took a figure from 2012-13 and called it 'current'... but it is a single-year APR and it's the most recently publicly-released-to-the-general-public, so he's not making wild stuff up.. just kind of using the favorable facts in a kinder light.

It should be celebrated. 994 is excellent (too high?). But it should NOT be used as a reason for Kill being B1G COY two years later.

Why don't you update us on Kill's medical condition instead since he doesn't have much time left here according to you. You are an unbelievable ass.

Who was the last player to wear the Brown Shirt? Has it been years?

I still like to pretend that school matters. Knowledge is good.
