Gopher-centric Portal Short List

He is out of eligibility, but he just "entered the portal" anyway...
I really don't understand why guys with no eligibility left are even allowed to enter the transfer portal. Dawson did the same thing and I am sure it happens with other teams as well. Just seems pointless to enter your name in the portal when you can't play next year anyway.

Same principle as me putting my name into the NBA draft.

It's a "just in case" move. They make the 5 in 5 change immediately giving him another year. I think it's extremely unlikely but there's no downside to put his name in the portal anyways.

Would be a depth piece, not sure he'd be in the regular rotation but who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'd think he'd be in the mix to start the 4 spot along with Winters and N Groves.

We need a guy 6’8” to 6’10”. Who can bang and shoot. Otherwise it’s likely to be a long season.

J'son Stamper clone physically but that 38% FG stat is abysmal. I'd rather grab another PG option or true C prospect for depth if it were up to me.

Vaihola is still looking for a new home. Wonder if he could be talked into coming back as a reserve big?

Minnesota Basketball: BJ Omot will transfer to Cal State Northridge

Think the laughing emoji is pretty shitty of whoever did it BJ has struggled through injury as a nice talent, came from a tough situation and made something of himself and is getting a college education. It's easy to be jaded in college sports sometimes, especially now, but still worth remembering these are young men trying to do the best for themselves and their families. I'm cheering for BJ to get healthy and have a hell of a season.

I think we know JCJ, Evans, Durkin and Asuma are kinda captains, if you will.
Groves and Grady
wouldn't be here if they were not assured they are important parts on the floor playing. That's 6. Five of them are guard like, but Niko likes to play small.

Grove-7, Kordel - 8, Palmer - 9, Shinholster -10, ...these are the 10 guys the 3 freshmen gotta beat out to play. And are we adding any more new guys? We are not likely to afford a better big, but that's the softest part of our competition. Mpoyi could earn minutes...almost has to? 4 bigs and 9 guards if you gotta slot em in only those two groups?

Do we have more than 13 guys on the roster?

Lorenson is also on the roster and he is actually a great shooter. The 15th probably goes to a walk on 6-9 kid- practice player.

Competition on this roster is going to be fierce. I like it!

With the Palmer addition my assumption is we are done adding guys but these days can't rule anything out.

Will be interesting to see how the rotation works out. Hopefully we have better fortune on the health front and that leads to lots of competition for playing time.

Have you seen Lorenson confirmed on the roster some place or just going on he didn't enter the portal? He is not in season stats on ESPN. I thought he got in a couple games...but no? So, did he redshirt?
