I have read that if a player appears in one game they can no longer redshirt. I know there was a rule in the past that it depended on the number of games and when the games were in the season.

I recall Maggie saying she had some serious problems with her eyesight that prevented her from competing. If so, they could apply for a medical redshirt which allows the athlete to appear in less than 10% of the games.
I am not sure she qualifies for a medical redshirt either. Obviously, there could be an appeal or a change in the rules.

Not a good sign when several players transfer out from a major conference {Big Ten} with ample media exposure, it opens doubt with higher level recruits questioning our coaching staff...My opinion Lindsay Whalen should be released if unable to maintain a winning record in 2022-2023 season......
It is the sign of the times that many players are leaving teams and even Power conferences. They are looking to increase their playing time and/or playing on contending teams. Recently, Power Conference teams have lost multiple players: Arizona, 4; Kentucky, 3; Colorado, 4; USC, 3, and on and on. The Haves get richer and the Have Nots stay poor. It is an interesting "coincidence" that Jasmine Powell and Rickea Jackson, who are both from Detroit, landed at Tennessee. Jackson was a leading scorer in the SEC at Mississippi State when she transferred. Iowa is losing a couple of reserves because a senior is coming back for a Covid year and they cannot give the reserves scholarships. It is a tough basketball world. There are some players in the transfer portal who have transferred more than once. It used to be difficult to transfer within a conference, which probably was a good idea to prevent tampering and maintain some parity within a conference. I hope after the Covid year(s) that the NCAA develops better regulations for the Transfer Portal.

OUCH!!! Well Iggy, what do you think of these 2 players, should the gophs seek them out?
One game in a tournament atmosphere, glad I wasn’t judged that way. Look at the whole body of work before just writing them off. Everybody can have an off day, even the great ones.
Those Texas guards are a problem on defense. Jacy Sheldon is one of the best pgs in the country and she also had a bunch of turnovers against them in the tournament(6 I think). I question whether Browns game translates to this level but I think Hakes would be a good addition. Just my opinion though.

Well, we do have a lot of spots to fill; so we can take chances; but replacing power five players with lower mid-major players generally doesn't work well. And like it or not, they must play Big Ten level competition.
Indiana got Nicole Cardano-Hillary from mid-major George Mason. But Cardono-Hillary was a former A-10 Player of the Year. There was little mystery as to whether she could step into a Big Ten roll.
Naturally I prefer Kevin McGuff's method of replacing Kirsten Bell with Taylor Mikesell.

I think there needs to be reasonable expectations to what the gophers will pick up out of the portal. They also need role players. The team will not have a superstar next season imo, but hopefully they can find leadership.

Nothing guaranteed, but hearing multiple portal players doing visits to gophers this weekend. Unsure of who tho but hearing multiple players likely on campus this weekend. Maybe we hear news next week of commits?

Recruiting dead period ended yesterday so it makes perfect sense to bring in visitors this weekend. I live in Woodbury and its making the rounds that Rachel Hakes is gonna be a Gopher, would bet shes one of the 1st signings. Will be interesting who all is coming in this weekend.

I would like this addition. Has improved every year in most stats. Played a lot, didn't score a lot but had almost as many assists as points and didn't turn the ball over too much for a forward with that many minutes. Still mid major so not going to get too excited but need some experience and healthy attitude and her pinned tweet on her twitter account indicates a positive attitude. We need a strong united team that shares the ball well, she brings that as well as experience playing on a winning team.

I watched many of the ND games on the ACCN and Anaya Peoples would be instant offense plus she rebounds well. I would think she will have multiple options so getting her would be a long shot.

Really developed/improved every year and would be a great addition with 1 year to play really seems to have developed an outside shot as the season went along. Played on an NCAA team.

Not sure I would see her as a much of a contributor on the court. Not that productive at a low level school, sounds like she is a good defender and very very fast!!!

Would Start immediately. Played quite a bit and was productive but they have a ton of competition in the paint with the leader in the paint being 6'9"

Might be good but not overly impressed with the level of competition had impressive 17.8 pts./game and has averaged 5.9 rebounds. She did perform well against the 2 major conference teams she played against (Oregon State and TCU)

Probably a good addition but her scoring efficiency is a bit concerning with a FG% of 33.6%yet shoots the 3 at 33.3%. Must not be an otherwise very good shooter. Good size but a bit puzzling. I must say, I don't feel I have a good grasp of what to make of FG% in general.
