Maggie will not lose her red shirt based on 22 minutes of playing time
I have read that if a player appears in one game they can no longer redshirt. I know there was a rule in the past that it depended on the number of games and when the games were in the season.Maggie will not lose her red shirt based on 22 minutes of playing time
I have read that if a player appears in one game they can no longer redshirt. I know there was a rule in the past that it depended on the number of games and when the games were in the season.
As COVID-19 continues to affect player availability and subsequently leads to game cancellations, the Atlantic 10, eyeing up a season filled with disruptions, has requested a blanket waiver to adjust the redshirting rules, commissioner Bernadette McGlade told The Athletic. Currently, NCAA rules stipulate that if a basketball player appears in a single game, he or she can no longer redshirt.
But the A10 is asking that redshirt players be permitted to serve as essentially emergency fill-ins for up to four games without burning their sit-out year. The request is for the waiver to apply to all Division I basketball — men’s and women’s — and only for this year.
I recall Maggie saying she had some serious problems with her eyesight that prevented her from competing. If so, they could apply for a medical redshirt which allows the athlete to appear in less than 10% of the games.I have read that if a player appears in one game they can no longer redshirt. Not a good sign when several players transfer out from a major conference {Big Ten} with ample media exposure, it opens doubt with higher level recruits questioning our coaching staff...My opinion Lindsay Whalen should be released if unable to maintain a winning record in 2022-2023 season......With another losing season in the record books, and with at least four or five players abandoning ship for reasons unknown, why would any highly rated player be interested in playing for the Gophers? I expect Lindsay will have to settle for the same mediocre transfer talent (Winters being the exception) as in the past.
good find. She would be almost a perfect fit for what I think we need.Would be watching Rachel Hakes Woodbury,MN/Fairfield U. Heard theres alot of interest on both sides, not saying its a done deal or anything but seems to be trending that way. 6 foot tall old school pg that rarely shoots but when she does she hits about 40% of her 3s.
Rachel Hakes Career Stats - NCAAW - ESPN
Complete career NCAAW stats for the Tulane Green Wave Guard Rachel Hakes on ESPN. Includes points, rebounds, and assists.www.espn.com
In this years NCAA tournament:
Rachel Hakes versus Texas (52-70):
34 minutes, 10 points, 9 turnovers 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2-4 from the floor
Taylor Brown versus Michigan (39-74):
35 minutes, 8 points, 4 turnovers, 3 assists, 5 rebounds and 3-13 from the floor
One game in a tournament atmosphere, glad I wasn’t judged that way. Look at the whole body of work before just writing them off. Everybody can have an off day, even the great ones.OUCH!!! Well Iggy, what do you think of these 2 players, should the gophs seek them out?
Those Texas guards are a problem on defense. Jacy Sheldon is one of the best pgs in the country and she also had a bunch of turnovers against them in the tournament(6 I think). I question whether Browns game translates to this level but I think Hakes would be a good addition. Just my opinion though.OUCH!!! Well Iggy, what do you think of these 2 players, should the gophs seek them out?
Well, we do have a lot of spots to fill; so we can take chances; but replacing power five players with lower mid-major players generally doesn't work well. And like it or not, they must play Big Ten level competition.OUCH!!! Well Iggy, what do you think of these 2 players, should the gophs seek them out?
Recruiting dead period ended yesterday so it makes perfect sense to bring in visitors this weekend. I live in Woodbury and its making the rounds that Rachel Hakes is gonna be a Gopher, would bet shes one of the 1st signings. Will be interesting who all is coming in this weekend.Nothing guaranteed, but hearing multiple portal players doing visits this weekend. Unsure of who tho but hearing multiple players likely on campus this weekend. Maybe we hear news next week of commits?
I also noticed Carly followed Piath Gabriel fro UConnIt may not mean anything, but players I noticed that Carly or Lindsay are following on Twitter (in addition to Rachel Hakes):
Emma Grothaus (6-3 SR F, Mahtomedi, AAU with North Tartan, Lehigh)
Alexis Pratt (5-5 FR G, Stillwater, AAU with MN Fury, Nebraska Omaha)
Kennedy Brown (6-6 SO F, Derby, KS, Oregon State)
Tomi Taiwo (5-10 SR G, Carmel, IN, Iowa)
Caitlyn Harper (6-1 RS SO, F, Hartland, WI, California Baptist)
Sydney Parrish (6-2 SO) G, Fishers, IN, Oregon)
Anaya Peoples (5-10 JR G, Danville, IL Notre Dame)
I would like this addition. Has improved every year in most stats. Played a lot, didn't score a lot but had almost as many assists as points and didn't turn the ball over too much for a forward with that many minutes. Still mid major so not going to get too excited but need some experience and healthy attitude and her pinned tweet on her twitter account indicates a positive attitude. We need a strong united team that shares the ball well, she brings that as well as experience playing on a winning team.Recruiting dead period ended yesterday so it makes perfect sense to bring in visitors this weekend. Size we need and was productive in her very limited minutes. Brother on an NBA team so she would seem to have lot of potential.I also noticed Carly followed Piath Gabriel fro UConn
Might have some trouble doing her school work but Geno concurrs that she has a lot of potential.Size we need and was productive in her very limited minutes. Brother on an NBA team so she would seem to have lot of potential.

Really developed/improved every year and would be a great addition with 1 year to play really seems to have developed an outside shot as the season went along. Played on an NCAA team.It may not mean anything, but players I noticed that Carly or Lindsay are following on Twitter (in addition to Rachel Hakes):
Emma Grothaus (6-3 SR F, Mahtomedi, AAU with North Tartan, Lehigh)
Not sure I would see her as a much of a contributor on the court. Not that productive at a low level school, sounds like she is a good defender and very very fast!!!Alexis Pratt (5-5 FR G, Stillwater, AAU with MN Fury, Nebraska Omaha)
Would Start immediately. Played quite a bit and was productive but they have a ton of competition in the paint with the leader in the paint being 6'9"Kennedy Brown (6-6 SO F, Derby, KS, Oregon State)
Would be an upgrade over smith. Good shooter but still not super productive but didn't get a ton of minutes either.Tomi Taiwo (5-10 SR G, Carmel, IN, Iowa)
Might be good but not overly impressed with the level of competition had impressive 17.8 pts./game and has averaged 5.9 rebounds. She did perform well against the 2 major conference teams she played against (Oregon State and TCU)Caitlyn Harper (6-1 RS SO, F, Hartland, WI, California Baptist)
Probably a good addition but her scoring efficiency is a bit concerning with a FG% of 33.6%yet shoots the 3 at 33.3%. Must not be an otherwise very good shooter. Good size but a bit puzzling. I must say, I don't feel I have a good grasp of what to make of FG% in general.Sydney Parrish (6-2 SO) G, Fishers, IN, Oregon)
Her production has dropped every year and her minutes have gone down too. Certainly came highly regarded from HS but seems to have potentially peaked.Anaya Peoples (5-10 JR G, Danville, IL Notre Dame)
More on Kampschroeder:Kennedy Brown announced her decision to enter the portal over the weekend. Brown came to Oregon State for the 2019-2020 season as a McDonald’s All American and 5 star recruit. Her freshman season was cut short by an ACL tear in February. She missed the entirety of the next season while rehabbing that injury. Her return for the 2021-22 season was highly anticipated, and she did not disappoint. She was third on the team in overall scoring, averaging 7.9 points per game, and second in rebounds, averaging 6.3 per game. She also tied for the team lead in blocks, with 33.
Kampschroeder was the first to announce her departure, making her decision known last Wednesday. Kampschroeder was a former McDonald’s All-American before she came to Oregon State, and was ranked the 32nd best player in her class by ESPN. Kampschroeder found an immediate role on the team in her one season, starting 25 games. She finished the season with an average of 5.2 points per game.
