Good game tonight on VS! Wisky at UNLV

I think that you're referring to Trent Lockett. Herb Sendek got him at ASU and he's a 6'4" 211lb. dandy.

In his freshman season he; secured Pac-10 All-Freshman Team honors, ASU's second under Herb Sendek in four seasons (James Harden in 2007-08 was the other)...played in all 33 games, just one off the ASU freshman record of 34 held by four players...17 points against Stanford on Jan. 30 was his Pac-10 high, while he also posted 19 vs. San Francisco (Nov. 20) and 17 vs. Texas State (Nov. 16)...had a career-best eight assists vs. Stanford after entering the game with 15 on the year and added six boards...had nine double-figure scoring games on the year, and ASU was 7-2 in those contests...had 13 points vs. 2010 national champion Duke on Nov. 25 at Madison Square Garden and followed that up with season-best 39 minutes vs. LSU two nights later...had 11 points vs. Pac-10 Tournament champion Washington on Jan. 8 and had 15 against Pac-10 regular season champion California on Jan. 28...helped ASU notch its first sweep of Washington State since 2002-03 with 12 points in Jan. 10 win in Tempe and added 10 points in solid Pullman win on Feb. 4...had season-high 11 boards vs. TCU on Nov. 17...made 15 starts on the year.

This year, as a sophmore, he is off to a fast start. In both of ASU's two games to date - at New Mexico and hosting UAB he has led the team in; Minutes (averaging 35). Shooting% 18of26 (9of12 and 9of14). Scoring (22 and 19 points). Rebounds (8 and 7).

In those games combined he also contributed 6 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal and 3 turnovers while committing 3 personal fouls and missing 5 of his 10 freethrow attempts.

He is also a member of the prestigious Barrett Honors College.

Minnesotan's can be proud of this kid. I know that I am.

Lockett is going to be an outstanding player at ASU before his four years are up, unfortunately for MN, he was also in that Royce and Rodney year and they really didn't have a spot for him. I know Bo and UW we're pretty disappointed he didn't wait longer before committing but sounds like Trent is doing real well and you can't argue with the eye candy on that campus so i would hope he is happy.

It's always a great day when sconnie loses. Does that brueschitz kid hang around with Fonzie and Potsy?

Love to see Wisconsin lose but I will give them credit in that's about as raucous and as hostile atmosphere as they'll play in this year and they still had a chance to pull it out against a decent UNLV team. They are certainly going to get their share of wins this year.

I turned the game on and I thought Ronald McDonald had some elibility left and had enrolled at Wisky. Good grief, Bruiser...you'd be the last man standing (alone) at the school dance.

+1 That was pretty damn funny. Ronald McDonald pretty much sums it up. The Wisky BB webpage referred to him as a rebound magnet. I think Trevor will eat him for lunch.

Wisconsin is good...not as good as some think though. Leuer is the key and if he goes down, they are toast. Not a ton of depth and young. Gasser is going to be a good one and Taylor seems to get better with every game.

This is probably what most people will believe about UW this season, but last night does not support that line of thinking. Leuer was pretty horrible, getting in foul trouble in the first and playing only 9 minutes, then just not having much of an impact on the game when he was on the floor in the second half. If you had told me Jon would only play 26 minutes and would put up 10 (on 3-11 shooting) and 4, I would have guessed that UNLV would have won comfortably. Leuer is the team's best player, but Jordan Taylor is by far the most important (see lack of backcourt depth).

What is somewhat encouraging for UW fans is that the team's best player played rather poorly, but the Badgers still had multiple opportunities to win the game, both offensively and defensively. It's unfortunate that they were never able to make the needed play, but they very easily could have won against a good team in a pretty tough environment. Hopefully they learn from it, because they'll have some games against pretty good competition in Orlando over Thanksgiving and at Marquette before heading into the Big 10 season.

UWOle...I watched a pretty typical Wisky team last night: disciplined, well coached and hard-fighting. Your club will be just fine this year but they will have tough time dealing with our physical front line. Leuer is a great player but he and Nankevil (sp?) will not hold up in my opinion. No shame in a close loss on the road against a quality foe like UNLV, though.

Screw Wisky. I want them to lose every game. Especially since they have those MN boys. I'd rather that in state recruits don't see a positive to going to Wisconsin. I root for MN boys that play anywhere outside of the B10 though

I agree whole-heartedly. Iowa will lose 80% of their games too. The Big Ten is already the best conference in America so we can afford some bottom feeders.

Agree 100%. After losing two seniors in the backcourt to graduation (Bohannon and Hughes), the Badgers would be toast without Taylor.

Turnovers is another huge area that could change for Bucky this year. Badgers could attribute a LOT of their success last year to leading the nation (or at least near the top?) in fewest turnovers with around 9 I think. Good grief, in the win agaisnt Duke, they had 4. That's a lot of extra possessions each game. Last night at the Mack, the Badgers had 15. Tough to replace a backcourt with as much experience as Bohannon and Hughes.

Another note about UNLV in last night's game. It should have been a good time for the Badgers to catch UNLV. It was Trevon Willis' first game of the season after serving his EXTREMELY lenient suspension for slapping around his girlfriend. Willis is arguably UNLV's best player. Working back into "game shape", he had just 4 points with 4 fouls and 3 TO's in just 23 minutes. The Rebels will be better as he gets back into the groove.
