This should be a good one tonight on the VS network; pair of teams trying to crack the AP Top 25.

The locals are saying that this could be Lon Kruger's best UNLV team yet. I'm not sure about that just yet, the team that beat Wisky in the NCAA tournament had 4 experienced seniors starting.

One way or the other, I think we'll know a lot more about both teams after this one.

On a side note: UNLV rolls into this one trying to extend it's NCAA record 774 straight games with a 3-pointer made. It was almost comical the other night at the Thomas & Mack; UNLV didn't make one the entire first half and through much of the second half. By the 10-minute mark of the second half, with the game firmly in hand, the crowd was all over the Rebels. Fans were chanting "33333" or "SHOOT!!!" every time the Rebels got the ball, even 75 feet from the basket.

The Rebels finally knocked one down with 7:19 left in the game. It was kind of funny how much pride the home fans take in that record. For a while, I had no idea what everybody was yelling about. I'd forgotten about the record.

Is VS on Charter Cable in the western suburbs?

No clue. I know it's on DirecTV; Channel 603

Who to cheer for? Ordinarily, you would probably want a Big Ten team to win, help out the conference RPI.

But is there anything better than a Badger beating?

I cheer for wisky. full of minny boys, and im a B10 fan first. not to mention ive always hated UNLV

What's good for the Big Ten is good for the Gophers. Always.

I turned the game on and I thought Ronald McDonald had some elibility left and had enrolled at Wisky. Good grief, Bruiser...you'd be the last man standing (alone) at the school dance.

Iowa beat Alabama 55 - 47. Gatens played (per scoresheet).
Good for Big Ten

Man...if only Tubby had gotten here a year earlier and we had Leuer and Jordan Taylor filling the schollies of EE and Maverick, oh my....

Imagine how physical the Gophers would be with Taylor at guard. I think Tubby had his chance at Taylor. Remember a quote that he was hoping for a Gopher offer. Gophers had Ralph, Colton, Devoe, Paul and Devron. Do not know if they made an offer to Jordan.

Lmao at that mop top ginger on wisconsin. Can't wait to see ralph and trevor dismantle these clowns.

Screw Wisky. I want them to lose every game. Especially since they have those MN boys. I'd rather that in state recruits don't see a positive to going to Wisconsin. I root for MN boys that play anywhere outside of the B10 though

in all do respect oleboy, tubby has locked down the borders already no matter what. and if wisconsin wins by 30 or loses by 30, the only thing minnesota recruits saw, talk about, and care about, was the gophs beating north carolina. :)

That's true. And the reality is that none of the MN boys on Wisky's roster were recruited by MN (if I recall correctly Monson chose to offer the last scholly to Hoff over Leuer and then Leuer blew up his senior year). Still I always want Wisky to lose and their down by 1 with 6.7 left and UNLV has the ball so I'm happy

Bruiser with a key TO late and Taylor with a brick (tough shot) at the end to seal Whiskey Dick's fate. I shed no tears....

Nope, as JohnnyGopher has said a few times now, Monson had one scholarship left, and offered to both Leuer and Hoffarber, and said the first one to take it gets it.

Leuer chose Wisconsin over the U, and Hoffarber then signed with the U a few weeks later.

Tough loss - UNLV is good, especially at home. This was Wisconsin's first test. They have been blowing out cupcakes at home. Don't know why they did not go inside more to Leuer.

Really like how the Gophers laid out the schedule this year - each game was a tougher opponent. Really no cupcakes, except the exhibition with NorthEastern.

Oh ok. I knew I'd seen JG speak on it hear too. In a weird way I think it worked out best for us. Obviously each year's recruiting is based on team needs but I can't imagine where we'd be without Hoff right now. Maybe we'd have recruited the SG from Hopkins 2 years back or something but even though Leuer is a beast I think we may be better off with Hoff as our bigs are still very good

What's with the stupid "Bruiser" nickname?

I get that it's the kids last name, but he's far from an imposing player. Let alone gopher fans calling him that. Down with the Badgers!!!

The answer is simple for me...I can't spell the dude's last name. He did some good things and kind of fills the same role as Krabbenhoft did for them.

Although there has been recent success at Wisky that has been better than MN, I really dont see a draw to their BB program over MN's. Their arena is new, but it is kinda bland IMO, and although they have had a very good run over the past 10 years or more (maybe since Finley?) its not like they have been a real high profile program. There is not a huge buzz in Madison for BB like there is for the FB program, which I would consider borderline elite. I am a fan of theirs, but I am happy to see the tide swinging back to MN, hopefully it stays that way for a while.

+1 The board is very tough on spelling and grammar. I can spell check Bruiser.

It's Mike Bruesewitz, isn't it? the spelling, that is....
Don't forget Wisconsin beat a Duke team last year that was much more legitimized than this year's UNC. they've won more ncaa tournament games than we have this decade too. But as of right now and years in the immediate future, our program should have a much bigger draw

Great game to watch although judging by the last text I got from UWOle, I don't think he agrees.

As for the MN kids, My problem with Leuer was Monson and staff we're so clueless that year and then knowing there jobs we're on the line, reached for Nurumbi in the spring basically wasting a valuable scholarship. I still am not sure Jon would of come here knowing how they felt about Monson but it would of made it a much better situation than it did with the Blake vs. Leuer offer. MN just got Extremely lucky that Blake was a Die hard gopher fan. ( I really hope MN doesn't make the same mistake with Zierdon)

Tubby was hired in the spring after Berggren and Taylor had committed to UW and made a brief pitch to Jarred but after that didn't spend much time on either. You have to look at who we got in place of those guys in that recruiting year, Colton and Ralph vs. Berggren, I don't think any MN fan would trade either one of those guys for JB. We would of had room for Taylor considering how many guys we signed plus you consider we wanted to add Faber and Jones as well, but once they locked in on Devoe, that was there guy. Bostick would probably be the better comparison for Jordan and I think most would take Taylor in a heartbeat. Bruesewitz was just caught in a year with Rodney and Royce, now we all know how that turned out with Royce but at the time, Tubby had no choice. In the end, we used that PF scholarship on Trevor and even with last year, I think most MN fans are pretty happy with Trevor at the moment. Maybe Mike will have a couple huge years and change that.

Gosh darn, Johnny...post more, please. Along with Bleed and Gopher Lady, your info rules on this board.
