This should be a good one tonight on the VS network; pair of teams trying to crack the AP Top 25.
The locals are saying that this could be Lon Kruger's best UNLV team yet. I'm not sure about that just yet, the team that beat Wisky in the NCAA tournament had 4 experienced seniors starting.
One way or the other, I think we'll know a lot more about both teams after this one.
On a side note: UNLV rolls into this one trying to extend it's NCAA record 774 straight games with a 3-pointer made. It was almost comical the other night at the Thomas & Mack; UNLV didn't make one the entire first half and through much of the second half. By the 10-minute mark of the second half, with the game firmly in hand, the crowd was all over the Rebels. Fans were chanting "33333" or "SHOOT!!!" every time the Rebels got the ball, even 75 feet from the basket.
The Rebels finally knocked one down with 7:19 left in the game. It was kind of funny how much pride the home fans take in that record. For a while, I had no idea what everybody was yelling about. I'd forgotten about the record.
