Give me your High End, successful, acceptable expectations for Kill and Co this year

Sat, Sep 03 Southern California at Los Angeles, Calif. = L
Sat, Sep 10 New Mexico State TCF Bank Stadium = W
Sat, Sep 17 Miami (Ohio) TCF Bank Stadium = W
Sat, Sep 24 North Dakota State TCF Bank Stadium = W
Sat, Oct 01 Michigan * at Ann Arbor, Mich. = L
Sat, Oct 08 Purdue * at West Lafayette, Ind. = W
Sat, Oct 22 Nebraska * TCF Bank Stadium = L
Sat, Oct 29 Iowa * TCF Bank Stadium = L
Sat, Nov 05 Michigan State * at East Lansing, Mich. = L
Sat, Nov 12 Wisconsin * TCF Bank Stadium = L
Sat, Nov 19 Northwestern * at Evanston, Ill. = W
Sat, Nov 26 Illinois * TCF Bank Stadium = W

6 wins and a bowl game! Michigan is the toss up game and we could go 7 wins.
4 wins is the worst we'll do, and 8 wins (very unlikely) the best.

NOTE: Iowa could implode this year if the off season conditioning injuries take a huge toll. That type of injury can take more than a year to heal, if ever.

I could see us winning anywhere from 4 to 8 games. I would be content with 6 and a bowl game.

in 2008, something like 500 yards of offense?

NDSU has 17 returners off a team that was a bullcrap call away from the FCS national title?

there's at least 6 starters that were recruited by U of Minnesota,

*Billy Turner, DJ Mcnortan, Zach Vraa, Grant Olson, Marcus Williams, Colton Heagle*

CMON guys...

I'm hearing this annoying buzzing. It's not a mosquito. Can anyone help me figure out what it is???

The Gophers lost to NDSU in 2007, when the U had one of its worst teams ever, and NDSU had its best team ever. So, congrats on that.

Not one of those players were offered by Minnesota. If they had, they'd be Gophers.

Also, NDSU was far more removed from a national title last year than "a bullcrap call".

Please stop making sh*t up. It gets very tiresome.

far removed... HUH?

we were up by 7, a BS penalty on our O lineman.... then in overtime they said we fumbled when CLEARLY WE DIDNT as shown on Television...

NDSU would've gotten villinova at the fargodome for semi's and no way we'd lose that.

and Eastern Wash won the title. BLAH BLAH BLAH..

Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Sorry, I had to get that out. You need to get some serius professional help. It's time for you to go. Now.

I would say "true" to both claims (none offered and if they were they would've gone to the U), but without doubt both the 06 and 07 NDSU teams that played the U had players that were capable of not only playing for the Gophers but starting.

You'll have to concede that.

I wouldn't fault the players for the (lack of) in-state recruiting by former Minnesota coaches. Hopefully Kill makes his backyard a priority. It's too bad that they put more stock in how many "stars" or whatever the stupid crap is on these sites rather than doing an honest evaluation of the young men.

2007 was a perfect storm, a very good Bison team, a terrible Gophers team. But neither the Gophers nor the Bison are what they were in 2007. And Tim Brewster isn't there anymore. Rather amusing that anyone would call a 6 point win isn't "pounding" anyone. Yards don't count as points.

NDSU was 3 wins away from a national title. Minnesota was 3 wins away from a bowl game. So I can now walk around saying Minnesota was a "bullcrap call" away from going to a bowl game? Awesome!

I would agree. But that has far less to do with the Bison players than it does with the dogsh*t recruiting exhibited by Mason from 2004-06, the main reason he is now a Big Ten analyst.

Again, it has far less to do with stars than the fact that you can't take them all. There are a ton of players who fall through the cracks and never get to play Division I-A, for a lot of different reasons. It doesn't just mean that Minnesota missed on them - it means that every single one of the 120 Division I-A teams missed on them. That's hardly an indictment of the former Minnesota coaches. It's not as though these players chose NDSU over offers from Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, (hell, even Florida International, Western Kentucky, etc.) and would've gone to Minnesota if only they had gotten that offer.

The... "reasoning" seems to go that Eastern Washington beat Villanova and Delaware to win the title, therefore if NDSU had beaten Eastern Washington, then NDSU would have also beated Villanova and Delaware. But even if NDSU had scored, all it would have done was force a second OT or given them a chance at going for the win with a 2 point coversion attempt. And there's no guarantee that they would have even scored if the runner had been down.

Quite a house of cards there that he is using. You're right, I might just as well say "Well if we had completed one more pass, we would have beaten USD, and then not being so dispirited, we would have beaten Northern Illinois and Northwestern, been 6-6 and gone to a bowl game.

Really, dude?! Piss pounded is not quite the word I would use. You did only win the game by 6 if my memory serves my correctly. The fact that NDSU gained that many yards and still only won by 6 is laughable. By the way, shouldn't you be on an NDSU board or something? Or, is your only interest to come on here and act like a royal d-bag? I can't imagine that there are too many Gopher fans sitting on NDSU boards. If they even exist for that matter. The fact that we entertain this in conversation is beyond me. With that being said, I think NDSU has a very good team and will put up a good game, but it will be close. I do not think they will be taken lightly anymore, ala USD and NDSU in previous years. It all depends on how the Gophers look early on, as we have some good games before NDSU for the coaching staff to adaquately work on any issues that they have before Big Ten play.

I'm still hearing this buzzing sound. It's always coming from the northwest of me. Maybe I need to get my ears checked...

I already conceding both that none of the NDSU players had an offer from the U and if they did have an offer they would've gone to the U. No need to remake those points.

In a general, national sense you're correct that players slip through. My opinion is that the U should take a chance on more Minnesota HS players, because it's a public school that is using tax dollars and athletic department revenue that mostly comes from Minnesotans to pay for scholarships to out-of-state players. So should they really be letting players like Craig Dahl (Mankato East), Ramon Humber (Champlin Park), Nate Safe (Cannon Falls) and Nick Schommer (Prescott, WI - just across river from Hastings) "slip through the cracks"? Come on. In particular, you can't tell me that Safe would've done worse than say - Jeff Sundsmo.

Mays, Dahl = starting in nfl
Schommer, Humber = special teams in nfl
josh Gatlin = drafted this year.

NDSU has talent, period, you guys lost to USD who we killed like 34-13 2 weeks later, you really cant think that you will beat NDSU.

It just got louder again. God that buzzing sound is annoying!

He can't be on an NDSU board.....he got banned from the NDSU board for being a massive tool.

By this logic, NDSU would have beaten Iowa by 27
And then MSU by 58
And then Bama by 16
And then Auburn by 15

GopherInPittsburgh

Somebody pointed out earlier that the math department at NDSU was weak. I am sure that true but the logic department at NDSU doesn't exist. Your example is from a PhD thesis done at their "Fun with Numbers" graduate program at NDSU.

Gopherguy. I am not banned, hilarious. I started a new thread so you guys can change the subject
