Quite possible. The Conley trade getting us under the First Apron gives the Wolves a lot more flexibility to make other moves in the offseason if this all proves to be fruitless. It also saved Wolves ownership close to $20M in luxury taxes this season.

They also noted in the Athletic, they this could be a trial balloon to see what the market is.

If they wait till summer. Other teams including the Wolves will be able to to offer more draft capital.

The tax savings, in my opinion, that's why this trade was made.

Maybe they trade for giannis, maybe they don't. But whatever trades they make, it will be close to matching salaries so they maintain the tax relief
