As one of the cornerstones of the 2009 recruiting class, Hayo Carpenter is bringing his 4.4 speed to TCF Bank Stadium and looks to make a formidable one-two offensive punch with Eric Decker. Carpenter is fired up to be a Gopher and recently spoke with GopherHole.com about everything from why he chose to be a Gopher to what his guilty pleasures are.

Sounds like a guy with a good head on his shoulders. It speaks volumes when he says that if he couldn't play football, he'd like to coach to help kids out. Very mature response.

Hayo IS a man of his word...

I probably asked him 20 times if he was going to be a Gopher, it he would really sign. There were so many rumors out there about him, and even confirmation that he was going to be visiting other schools. For some reason, I just trusted him, and everytime, he said he was not taking visits, he was a Gopher...and he is. His word was his bond, and I'm so excited to have him!

I thought he was clocked being able to run the 40 in 4.37 too...that makes him even better! Welcome Hayo!!!

That was another great interview. I particularly liked the which team do you hate more question.

I also like what's in the background of the picture.

"I’m looking forward to playing with Eric Decker because he knows what it takes to play in the Big Ten and I feel I can learn a lot from him."

My favorite quote. The kid is looking forward to learning - that says to me that he will succeed. Too many players try and rely on their talent alone, but Hayo sounds like he's committed to being the best. With that kind of attitude, combined with his athleticism, he will be Golden. :)
