Game Day Experince-TCF

inside: $7.25 for 2/3 of a cup of warm tap beer..

outside: before the game started, i paid $7.00 for a huge Philly Steak sandwich with melted provolone from a food truck... excellent value. NO LINE.

I packed a dinner for the kid thinking I could grab a panino during the game. I nearly canceled my season tickets. I was so mad. Then the announcer started talking, and I couldn't take it anymore. I refused to stand up just so I could piss of the we need to stand on third down crowd to make me feel better.

So you packed a dinner for the kid because you could buy a sandwich?

Failure in buying a sandwich caused such angst you almost canceled your tickets?

The announcer's voice turned you into Howard Beale?

Finally, something involving incontinence, posture, and the basics rules of football?

All I can say is that this is clearly a terrible case of "auto correct syndrome."

The point is, the in-game experience is HORRIBLE. I don't give a G damn if everyone else is doing it. That's a lame argument. This screaming commercials every break is obnoxious. Oh, we got a third down so so-and-so donates $25 to the Gopher Fund. Really??? Come on Teague, cut the damn commercials, or else show them on your jumbo tron....but cut the sound. And these opn field presentations of the sick kid have to stop.

Cut commercials! (aka....commercials the U receives $$$ to play)

How do you propose the University of Minnesota competes with Michigan/Ohio State/Penn State who sell over 90/100,000 tickets per home game (don't forget that 90/100,000 also spend money on parking/concessions/seat licenses/forced donations).

Enlighten us!!!

Everyone has complaints, but no solutions to correct what they are complaining about. Sounds like a bunch of spoiled brats to me.

I like the story about the guy who brought a sandwich along for the kid so he could buy himself his own sandwich, and then complains. Cheap bastard should have brought the sandwich for himself and treated his kid to a hot dog.

Beverage, hot dogs, peanuts and cracker jacks....that's all you need.

Or was that baseball?

You are a salty bastard and I love it!

Excuse me stewardess? I speak rant:

I refused to stand up just so I could piss off the "we need to stand on third down" crowd to make me feel better.

Holy Cow this thread is funny. People stand, they run out of food, the announcer talks too much, blah, blah, blah. Dear God. If you don't like the experience don't come. If there are just parts you don't like then who cares - how is that different than the rest of life? TCF is a great place to go watch a CFB game. If you don't see that the problem is you - not TCF or the "U".

I'm not picking on you specifically, but lets discourage more people from showing up. I forgot the consecutive sellout record since the stadium opened(SARCASM).

Satire; he was being satirical.

Yeah the warm beer was rather disappointing after waiting in that line for 25 minutes.

I had a bit of a problem with one of the concession stands. After hours of tailgaiting in the heat, I was pretty dehydrated, so I went up during the second quarter (I'm ashamed, I normally don't leave during play) and got in a line with 5 people in front of me. It took 15 minutes to get a bottle of water. Most of the people were just getting bottled drinks and paying with a credit card. How the clerk managed to take 4 minutes on one customer to hand them a Sprite and Coke, and swipe their card, was beyond me.

Also, after all of the moaning about tailgate lots not opening until 2, it was very annoying when C58 was not open at 2.

On the bright side, the 28 point victory made for a very nice gameday experience. Can't wait for a similar showing in a few weeks.

Woody Teague will be on Sids radio program tomorrow from the state fair. I think the callers will have a lot to say about the gameday situations. It is like every game at tcf is the first game at tcf.

Not sure who thinks up the locations to put beer and I am sure they had to agree with many rules to get it through, but make it easy to pay and make the lines cash only $7.50 to beer $15 it would take two seconds, to get a beer and back to the seats. Also if you are going to go with this micky mouse operation of a three mile walk and credit cards, put a damn big screen tv out there so yo can at least watch while you are in line.

Fair point, but I doubt anyone is going to stop going based on my post. However, we can likely afford to lose a couple if this is their attitude. Bottom Line: TCF is a great place to go - not perfect but pretty damn good.

And can we get the scoreboard to actually work 2 weeks from now? I was getting sick of looking up and having it read 4th and 37 every 5th minute.

+4th & 37. That was absolutely ridiculous! I can follow the game easily, but others may have issues. These things just keep popping up that make us look like some Mickey Mouse operation....

I get it. You're all being ironic when you complain about complainers!

MN's passive aggressive fans suck. We show up late, we leave early, our beer is too warm, our lines too long, bathroom lines too long, we stand up, pissing off some beer sipping lazy ass know it all fan fan who is looking for his TV surround sound remote control. Arghhhhhhh.

Our society is flicking doomed.

Maybe the university of Minnesota should have a BYOB policy. ;)

I was there 5 hours early, stayed til the last second of the game (and to sing the alma mater with the band and the team), and for the price of admission, I don't think it is unreasonable to ask that they get their stuff together. I have seen a lot of sporting events in Minnesota where they are able to move the lines quicker and have the scoreboard accurately display the status of the game. These aren't outrageous requests.

Why is the expectation that the money people spend and time they take to support our team and University should not come with a reasonable expectation of decent service and atmosphere. I am all for suffering for a cause but we aint curing cancer or saving drowning puppies, this is an entertainment activity that people pay a lot a money for...the idea that because it is a college football game and therefore not required to provide a return on investment is so ridiculous that I struggle to respond without dripping sarcasm.

I accept, no I expect that when I spend $$$$$ for entertainment that a best effort is made. Do mistakes happen. Yeah. Is it acceptable that in YEAR 5 that they still can't have enough food, staff the concessions, know how to make change and cool a keg of beer? HELL NO! I would expect more from a buddy hosting a backyard BBQ where all I brought were some chips, why the hell would I not DEMAND more from people I am paying hundreds of dollars to for an afternoon of entertainment.

Frankly, the one thing I like about the Metrodome is is wasn't ran by the U...or ran into *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# by the U.

Wrong. Complainers complain about an issues/issues but offer no suggestions to improve. Those complaints are opinions. My complaining about complainers is based on facts because the complainer said it. There is a difference.

Hell, it's ok though for complainers to complain about my complaining are the irony of it all. They can, I can't. Seems like a one way street to me. :horse:

Here is a suggestion. Ask the Twins for advice on how to run stadium operations.

It is not the responsibility of the U of M to have a policy of providing a Broad for you, so you should BYOB!!! :)

Exactly.

Was the game day experience THAT bad that 75 percent of the stadium was empty in the 4th quarter? Were the people in the stand THAT hungry that they had to leave early to stuff their face?

While I was watching the game last night, enjoying the win and victory from Denver, the TV pans out to show a stadium shot and the place is damn near empty! One would think that after all of the struggles the program has been through, the fans would've loved to have stayed the whole time and watch the boys win handily. I'm proud of the few that stayed the whole game to watch us win in this fashion.

Cheers to the 25 percent!

Hate to admit that I did leave a few minutes early. I brought a pesky friend that started complaining when we scored the second to last touchdown. Unfortunately he had to pick someone up at 11:00 and the Oak Street ramp is normally a nightmare to exit.

Will someone please email Teague and let him know we have a mustard shortage? Be part of the solution people!

Bingo. I would get the bitching about people bitching if we were talking about something free, or a product with an overwhelming demand. We're not. They charge a good deal of money for something they as of recent have a hard time selling, so it's pretty imperative they listen to the people that are already buying it. That's not that hard and for those that really care about the U, it's not such a bad thing to ask that they get their *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# together.
