GAME #25: Gophers (16-8, 5-6) @ #21 wisconsin (19-5, 6-5) [ESPN, 2/13, 8:00PM]

Becky has a good team; not at all a bad loss. Kept fighting here at the end.

Regroup tomorrow AM and get ready for Northwestern. Next two games are doable... get 'em both.

How many of these frantic late game rallies have happened on the road this year, only to fall short? MSU, Nebraska, Purdue, Becky? Too bad they haven't been able to play at that level for an entire game.

Give Little Dre a chance to guard the guy before you blow the whistle. You can see the frustration on Lil Dre's face.

Never understood the point of taking 2's when you're down multiple possessions in the final minute.

That's why I wish teams wouldn't get so many timeouts. It hurts good defense.

Meh, they're selling out to defend the three. It'll take a lot of luck no matter how you slice it.

Just imagine how pissed people in Missouri and Arkansas would be if our game had preceded theirs.

we had such poor spacing during the game, wonder why pitino didn't address that

I know we've come up short in all of these late rallies but this builds character and sets the tone for class after class that you play from start to finish. In a game where the X Factor from the first game had 2 fouls before he really even touched the ball this was always going to be the end result. But again i'm proud of these guys for fighting til' the end. Just gotta come out with more fire from the start on the road going forward. As always...GO GOPHERS!!

Northwestern will decide if we go to the NCAA tournament or the NIT. We need EE and Austin to pretend like they are starters.

Not much of an excuse for Mo not even touching the ball in the paint until the final 2 minutes. He's been arguably our best scorer since last Wisky game.

Not a great effort tonight. Poor defense for much of the game, So weak at the power forward position and Elliason- was good on defense but is just of no help on the offensive end lately. Have to go beat Northwestern. It will take a better effort that what we saw tonight.

Nah, there have been notably bad games called against us this year, this wasn't one of them.

It was still pretty bad, maybe not by @Wisconsin standards, but it wasn't close to even. Not saying that's why we lost though.

EE is a joke. Austin Hollins is weak and nonaggressive. This team plays hard and do not give up but the talent is not there.

Some positives:
- Outrebounded them 29-26
- WI had just 3 offensive rebounds
- Went 9 of 17 behind the arch

Ugly:
- 2 steals
- 1 block
- EE, Moe, King, and Oto combined for just 17 points, 13 reb, and 5 turnovers

Some periods of pretty decent play from the Gophers during this game but also some pretty bad stretches and decisions that ultimately cost us the game. The Wisconsin PF's and C's really took advantage of ours on the offensive end and really didn't give up much defensively. Way too many unforced turnovers in the 1st half that gave up possessions and also think we probably tried to hard to force the ball inside during the 1st half. The reffing was pretty typical for at Wisconsin, a few that stuck out to me were 2 or 3 times the Gophers were called for a foul and it looked like it was assessed to the wrong player. Gasser and Brust also got away with holding the back of the jersey of Gopher guards coming off screens most of the game but when Andre tried the same thing he picked up 2 fouls in probably less than a minute. Also thought Jackson should have got a technical after King threw the ball out of bounds from his back and then Jackson stood over him clapping. Moving on have to find a way to win at Northwestern.

I'm for going small at this point with Austin at 4 and Malik at the 3. Austin doesn't shoot 3's anymore, and I'm not sure the D can get worse than it already is.

I actually thought that Gophers played well. Defense and Dre kept them in the game.
