In DL65's absence, here is my poor-man's attempt at filling in. These aren't verbatim, but very close.

Jerry Kill on winning back to back games against Nebraska…I appreciate it very much. I am proud of the kids. We have a relentless group. We had some things happen that didn’t go our way. Momentum shifted with the blocked field goal but our kids hung in there. You can’t say enough about our kids. David goes out, Rodrick and Donnell step up. Our kids stepped up and never lost our composure. It was a great win for us, no question about that.

Jerry Kill on running Leidner so much…It was one of those things where we took what they gave us. They did some things differently but we tried to have an answer and it was a situation where we were able to protect the edge and read the end and Mitch did more than he’s had to do in the past, but he did it very well. He played a very good football game. You’re only as good as your QB and he played very well.

Jerry Kill on blocked kick…IT was one of those things where they have a great athlete and they went up and got it. At half it wasn’t like we were getting dominated. I told the kids we are in this thing and we’ll be fine. I think the kids believe in what we’re telling them and we believe in the kids. We held our composure very well. Coming from the state of Kansas there’s been a lot of sad days in Lincoln, that’s not an easy place to play. Next week is a huge game for us. I’m proud of the kids.

Jerry Kill on blowing out Iowa and Wisconsin struggling against them …That doesn’t make a difference. Each week is a different week. Playing at Iowa City is a difficult place. Each week is different, that’s what makes college football so good. I’ve never been one to matching scores as its all what you do on a given Saturday.

Jerry Kill on David Cobb’s health…With a hamstring you just don’t know. We won’t know for a while. He got it pretty good. He did a good job, he stayed in it.

Jerry Kill on team being loose …Our kids play best when they are loose and confident. Our kids never lost their confidence during the game. So many guys did a great job of stepping up. I thought last night of Craig James, a true freshman, stepping up and helping us with field position.

Jerry Kill on answering Sid’s comments about video that went viral last week of Billy who is suffering from Epilepsy…That doesn’t have a lot to do about Coach Kill. I didn’t tell the kids beforehand, it’s about our players, I didn’t tell them to do anything. They did that on their own. I didn’t know of that (until he saw the video) about what the kids did. It’s unbelievable, it really is. It was quite amazing.

Jerry Kill on Miles Thomas…Miles made a terrific block on Rodrick’s 4th down. Just a hard nosed tough kid who never says anything, he just plays hard. He kind of simulates our program. He’s an under the radar kid who has gotten better and better. His block was critical. We don’t talk about him very much but he’s been a very good football player for us.

Jerry Kill on David Cobb for Wisconsin …It’s a big question mark but we’ll have to wait and see. If he doesn’t go we’ll have Donnell and Rodrick and hopefully have Berkley back.

Jerry Kill on no turnovers and only one penalty …I don’t want to get in trouble so I won’t say anything about that penalty. I was worried about the crowd noise, we tried to prepare for it but I was worried about false starts but we had great focus and concentration. Those are little things you worry about and our kids handled it very well.

Jerry Kill on Badgers …Larry Fitzgerald texted me and said put 12 in the box and I chuckled at that. I hope we can play 13 on defense as that is pretty much what you have to do against Melvin Gordon as that is what you have to do. It will be a great challenge for our defense. The bottom line is we won’t stop him but we need to get out of there without giving up a big play. We’ll have to play our best game. I think the kids know what’s riding on it. We’ll put them in the cold tub to get them ready. We’ll have to play physical one more time. I don’t underestimate this bunch. They are relentless.

Jerry Kill on Badgers …Larry Fitzgerald texted me and said put 12 in the box and I chuckled at that.

fun fact: Larry hosts an annual wide receivers camp during the summer at the gopher athletic complex. He has had a good relationship with the coaching staffs over the years, as I have heard.

Hey, allow me to be the "official starter" of the "Gopher500 Race". Gentlemen, start your engines:

Jerry Kill: "You're only as good as your QB..." :cool02:

You're on! This week, I've dubbed myself The Road Warrior. A true legend in my own my mind and I'll continually remind myself of that distinction from atop the second to last row at camp randy.

Thanks Bleed…love reading these things

I gave James a helmet sticker too. His fake catch on the touchback was awesome. That does not show up in any stat sheet. Little things.
