Marcus Fleming becomes Nebraska's fifth freshman from Florida to leave team

Marcus Fleming seemed to have a breakout game against Northwestern, but the freshman wide receiver played sparingly after that and is now no longer with the program.

On some other forums there are some comments that he apparently appeared on Instagram at some point (before leaving the program) and was throwing around other player's equipment, in the locker room, before the game.

Flemming was further down on the depth chart (possibly due to that incident) than folks thought he should be.


Maybe there's an opening for Neb to take a lot of new players in 2020 since ... nobody is sticking around...
 



Really not sure how those schools recruit anybody to think about spending four years of your life there? Sure, if you grew up in a similar environment but somebody from an urban area, not so much.

All I know is what the past Black players were quoted as saying.
And that was we were expected and told to act White.
The S&C coach who was not fired when he caused multiple FB players to develop rhabdomyolysis was fired after those complaints .
So one could presume he was one of the staff named as racist. to be racist.
Kirk F may not be a racist but he tolerated a racist culture.

Recruiting character matters, in those type of situations. Obvious that the only thing Frost cares about is star ratings and raw talent.

Thought he'd be able to "out talent" the other teams in the West, like he did at Central. Rude, rude awakening ....

Lincoln is a really fun town.
The thinking that you’re displaying here is probably why Minnesota has sucked forever. We just assume everywhere else sucks.

there are great places all over the country. If you’re a big time football player both Lincoln and Omaha would be great places to be. If you’re a regular college kid the same statement applies.

Saying there is one store in Lincoln is patently false and many people would see it as a better town to go to college in than Minneapolis.

Lincoln is a fun town with stuff to do.
Did you know it’s possible to go out and have fun without getting drunk?
Did you know that it is possible to get drunk just about anywhere?
 

Lincoln is a fun town for a weekend. Wouldn’t want to live in Lincoln. I have family there, it doesn’t compare to the twin cities in terms of stuff to do.

Weather is a little better though

I’d rather live here as an adult, and I do, but it would be a fun place with low cost of living and entertainment for a college kid to spend 4 years.

Never been to Lincoln or Omaha. Way back when I spent a decent amount of time in Columbia, MO though (home of Mizzou) and that's a great college town. That city truly revolves around Mizzou.
I think Madison and Lincoln/Omaha are almost getting too big to be considered "college towns". Madison feels like a giant suburb to me.

But I understand your point about the appeal of being in a smaller "college town". It's just a different experience and some kids may want that over a big city.

I have a friend who is a professor at Lincoln. My parents grew up there as well. Lincoln is a decent town I guess. It's no where near Madison or even Minneapolis. If you're a kid from Florida it might not be even in the same planet. The football it's what Nebraska was know for, but that's been 10 plus years since they have been relevant. Frost should be a fit, but the team just looks lost.

kids go to Crookston and Morris for college and we are going to pretend like Lincoln is the 7th circle of hell?

Im guessing not many Florida natives at Morris or Crookston, especially ones that had the option to get free school at dozens of players. I could be wrong.

You’d be surprised how much places recruit out of state because in state kids won’t come.

Lincoln has 350k, it is not a "one store" town. But saying it is a fun town with stuff to do ... there's zero chance it has more total things to do than Mpls. So it all depends on what "to do" means to you.

JUCO football teams aren't plentiful all over the place and Science school has a great program and has put plenty of kids in the P5.

These are largely kids who didn't do enough grades-wise in high school, and need another chance to make the minimum academic requirements.

Different people have different standards. I’m sorry, I would not choose to live in Lincoln or Iowa City or Nebraska or Iowa. Nice people to visit. Over the years
I spent too many weekends in both places coaching AAU basketball. I have experienced them. I know what I think of them.
I have no idea how you conclude Minnesota sucks (It does not) because you disagree with me and think Iowa and Nebraska are superior to the Twin Cities.
Your logic is wacky. Move to Nebraska and bash Minnesota with some conviction at least. Be happy.
 

Kids go to D2 and D3 and NAIA and JC in Iowa and Nebraska to play sports because its the only place they got recruited. Simple as that.

Yes, low cost of living is definitely a top consideration of an 18 year old from Florida getting a free ride. Spot on. No kid from Florida is going to chose to go to Nebraska beyond purely football reasons.

Being able to do fun things for cheap is definitely a consideration. Students from Florida are no less attracted to Nebraska than they are to Minnesota, Illinois, or Iowa.

For sure. Nebraska kids and Iowa kids who play sports only go there because it’s the only place they got an offer.
As Minnesota kids have opted to go to both schools over offers from Minnesota the last two years....

You keep telling yourself how superior Minnesota is when it really is about the same and about the fit for each individual kid.
