PJ, we were getting zero push in the run game. We've been struggling with that even against Nevada and Rhode Island. Establishing the run is fine if you can prove you can move the ball on the ground.
 








Sorry PJ. I really liked you as a coach. You've done some good things. But the schtick is wearing thin, and I think your time has come.

He, Flecks become complacent and accepts these collapses but doesnt change to prevent them. The players need to be pushed more, there is plenty of How, want to succeed, and some decent players. O-coordinator needs to start watching some other people's stuff and use it. Nothing wrong with watching other teams and taking concepts, besides self scout. O-line coach needs to step up and bring more out of this group. I think he knows they can do better. As the Old coach Jer used to say tackle like your hairs on fire, and stroke the post. Ol Jer is compulsive butthead, but he can coach football. No I am not asking to bring Jerry back, dude's been through some stuff. Success isn't easy, and I'm not ready to give up on Fleck.

I think this is an astute observation. Part of it is probably the results haven't matched his pledges for a long time, so we're all looking at him more suspiciously.

Agree with Coach on this. The Bank was rockin' and as another thread title said this was a BFG.

Usually sit on The Tribal Nations Plaza before games and enjoy some food and libations. Did the same today.

You could see it in both the I-O-W-A fans and Gophers alike. This was a big game.

Too bad it went the other way. This bacon would have been delicious.
 

Wash. Rinse. Repeat. ..... It now rings hollow to me, one of the biggest homers....
 

Get the young guys better in Secondary, let's see some more rotation at D tackle to keep them fresh.
 


Going into halftime, I saw a lot of unFlecklike choices. Not settling for FG, taking shots downfield. Those are promising signs.
 


Coach Fleck, we've passed the point where saying this is enough to hold yourself accountable. Your actions are saying something different.

As you say: "Change your best". Have the tough conversations (with yourself and others), make the tough decisions, and show us you are holding yourself accountable.

Continuing to say "It falls on me" without actually changing anything is just attempting to placate us at this point.

I'm still on the Fleck train for now, but for the first time I'm starting to look at the door and am considering whether I should get off. The only thing keeping me on right now is the off-field accomplishments with respect to the average GPA, and having no major scandals or incidents involving players (which I personally care about very much, especially seeing how some other successful schools seem to continually have problems). But that will only get you so far, especially given how much the school pays you.

How about after half time? That third quarter was just brutal and it ended with us trying a run for a first down when it was third and ten. I haven't quit on PJ, but I'm beginning to wonder how much of that is being in my late 70's and not wanting to go through another rebuild. (Because those have always worked for the Gophers. 🫣)
