Even 2019 we started off with a bunch of concerning games. In fact....we were super fortunate to even win the Fresno State game. This is a trend regardless of OC. We always come out of the gate slow.

Even South Dakota State was only a one score game. Point is that its a reoccurring theme that Fleck plays ultra conservative to start the season and it has caused nothing but problems. See: Bowling Green.

Yeah, I mean it feels bad to lose a game that was clearly winnable.

I feel like there was a good chance that they get a TD and maybe win if not for the muffed punt. But at the same time the offense wasn't good most of the day so who knows. Defense overall played well.

I think the Gophers just ran into a team right at the same level as them and it was a 50/50 game that went against them.

Ultra conservative to begin the year ends up causing losses....or much tighter games against decent but less talented teams. It's not a feature. It's a reoccurring bug with the Fleck tenure. The team will improve as the year goes on.....we'll win enough games to make a ho-hum bowl game against a mediocre team.....we'll extend the bowl winning streak and have some confidence rolling into next year.

In 2026.....rinse and repeat. Just skating by, doing the minimum necessary to stay in middle.
