Fleck on Taylor injury: "It doesn't seem too bad, which is really good. So, we got really good, positive diagnosis on that.”

He has an injury of indeterminate severity and will be out for an indefinite period.

That reminds me of a football announcer who, when talking about an injured player, said, “He’ll be out indefinitely, maybe longer.” Brilliant!

I thought the backups looked pretty good so if/when DT is back to playing shape the run game should be ok.

I never understand the irritation over speculation about injuries to one of our best players. People are gonna talk about it.

As far as not being treated with ice immediately could be either a) Boobie Miles syndrome ie DT said I’m fine refused treatment or b) icing for injuries has been more controversial in recent years or c) as some speculated cramp although the optics of pulling up and grabbing the back of the mid thigh after a long full effort run seem to better match other hamstring injuries we’ve all witnessed.

If he plays next week then mystery solved, I suppose.
Considering he was standing on the sidelines with his helmet on at one point (pretty sure they showed him on TV) I don't think it is that big of a deal.

We don't even know what the injury is and people have him out for weeks. I mean sure it is expected, but some people look for every sign that the end is nigh.

Like I said we’ll see soon enough. 🤷‍♂️

I disagree with this though. I think we’re fine at RB, if any of them can catch. Maybe, maybe not.

After a visit to the medical tent he did NOT go to the tunnel. He was still dressed, no helmet, walking around on the sidelines with nothing on his legs.

Doesn't mean much for the next game but it does mean it wasn't catastrophic.
Wait a minute. He was still dressed but also walking around with nothing on his legs? Maybe only half dressed?

Not that I'm aware of.

I was going off people in this thread saying he looked like he was trying to get back into the NW St game and what Fleck said in post-game.

Do people really think he's out for next week? Man ... bummer!

If I HAD to bet if Taylor will play or not Saturday, I would bet NO. Especially since it's Non-Conference followed with a Bye week.

I hope he's ready to go. Cal is not a bad team. Gonna need him imo.
I don't think that the Go/No Go decision hinges on the quality of the opponent.

If it's borderline and there's any risk to further injury, I think he'll sit, especially since there is a Bye week on the horizon.

Sure they'll need him for Cal. Being ready for Rutgers is far more important in the grand scheme, IMO.

Dang, putting it that way you could well be right.

If so, hopefully a by committee approach comes close enough to approximating Taylor's abilities in the backfield

I mean I do think this is an important non-conf game. It's a P4 game on the road

I just think Fleck's history of comments regarding injuries combined with the the reality of how long people have been out suggests this is a multi-week absence for Taylor.

I hope I am wrong.

But I have watched over and over how Fleck underplays injuries and says everything is good news and in the end he leaves it up to the medical staff. That always sounds like it is a day to day situation but in reality it is week to week at best. His quotes about injuries drive me bonkers.

Cal is an important contest.

However, relatively speaking, it's the least important game remaining on the regular season schedule.

If we've learned anything about Fleck, it's to not believe anything in terms of injuries.

I would not be surprised if Taylor does NOT play on Saturday, considering there is a bye week after this game before getting in to Big Ten play.

The good news is is I think our rb depth behind our starting rb is the best we’ve had since Bucky Irving was here.

Fleck always states that the trainers will make the decision. But we all know that having a Bye week coming up would allow Darius to rest and make sure he is fine for 3 weeks before Rutgers comes to town. I'm thinking that is a strong possibility and would make total sense. I'm confident in our back ups vs California.

If I had to guess he'll play Saturday but will probably be limited in snaps just to be safe. Definitely a game where we'll see a lot more of what AJ Turner can do.

Fleck will sit DT and give the ball to Femmy Edgy Boy And Turner

If a player/RB is going to be on a limited snap count, then I don't think it's wise to play him at all this early in the season.

Specifically with how quickly he was hurt in the last game.

Now I don't know what the story is so who knows, but considering the injury last game. What would the limited snap count be? 2 or 3?
