Fleck: “We were 1-0 in the bye week. We used it perfectly. Whether that’s fundamentals, details, techniques, reflection, self-scouting..."

To me, all coaches sound remarkably similar. They all have slogans, they all use coach speak.
The fact that so many seem to not know this, or choose to ignore it, is really something. So many coaches talk goofy that it just isn't that unique.

I don't think anyone did. They read the quote on here and shared their opinion of it.
I guess my point is it's really hard to get sick of something if you just ignore it. Unless you're a player, on his staff or a media member, it shouldn't be too hard to just not listen (or read) to him.

Yeah, fans notice the difference from one coach to another at their favorite school but they don't realize that there is really only so much a coach can say and so many different ways to say it.

Fleck seems out there when compared to Kill's down home country boy shtick but in reality there are lots of other coaches out there that are very similar to Fleck with the slogans and what not.

Even the 1-0 thing.....hear other college and NFL coaches say that all the time. it isn't unique to Fleck.

I have seen a ton of high school coaches use it too.

My son convinced me a long time ago that it matters not what some old dude thinks about some of the stuff that PJ says all it matters is the players and recruits either buy into it or at a minimum tolerate it. His recruiting and our portal results are convincingly in PJs favor. However, to assert that he’s not in the one percentile of goofy shit coming out of his mouth compared to other coaches I think is a little disingenuous. There are a lot of places with higher profile jobs that I don’t think would touch him with a ten foot pole.

I feel like Fleck has really toned down a lot of the acronyms and other things that really stood out a ton when he first started here. I could be wrong on that but it certainly feels like he doesn't go to those things nearly as much anymore compared to what he used to do.

PJ said it best once, he's not for everyone.

Any coach who tries to be for everyone I suspect pisses everyone off. At some point it's just best to be who you are.

I think I would have loathed PJ's rah rah stuff when I was in college, I was cynical and mopey. I love it now.... and that's ok.

The guys who get busted the quickest are the ones who try to be one way when cameras are on and another when the cameras are off. By all accounts what you see is what you get with Fleck so anyone coming here to play ball for him knows what they are walking into and he knows how to find players that fit the mold of what he is looking for.

And we went 6-0 in the Sunday-Friday leading up to the Cal debacle. Turns out that the only record that matters is the game W/L record.

4 and 2

PJ just didn't say publicly what happened, but my sources said it was clear we took an L on Tuesday and Thursday.

You can't? Sure you can.

He's pleased with how the team responded to a disappointing loss, and he's happy with the way in which they are preparing for the upcoming game.

This really isn't all that controversial, is it?
His team is 1-0? Lame behavior

I only count wins against real opponents, glad you're going to add an additional one at the end of the season

Yea it's annoying and not my cup of tea.

But I realized early on in PJ's tenure (like 2018) that if I skipped his weekly coaches show etc it suddenly bothered me less.

However you choose to consume the coach's quotes — whether it's by reading, listening or watching — I think it's worth considering the possibility of ignoring it if it's going to tire or annoy or trigger you.

To me, all coaches sound remarkably similar. They all have slogans, they all use coach speak.
All coaches have slogans. All coaches use coach speak. Fleck is over the top and, in his own words, "is not for everyone."

To paraphrase Crash Davis in Bull Durham, "If you win the Big Ten and talk like that, you're colorful. Until then, you sound stupid."

I know even the slightest criticism of the almighty Fleck sets you off, but he brings this on himself.

Brings what on himself, exactly?
