FIRE GREG HARBAUGH

I challenge anyone here to tell me Harbaugh is a good OC and cite your evidence hahahahaha
I wouldn't shed any tears if Harbaugh rowed down the road... but he does have to work within the parameters of what he has available on the field. He's got a QB showing some serious growing pains... He's playing with a JV backfield... 2-3 WRs not available, including Loya... That offensive line can be downright brutal at times... and he does have a head coach who loves Capri pants, yet is one of the most conservative coaches in college football. None of that excuses him, mind you... just some things to take into consideration.

Why do we abandon the down field throw when Drake usually nails them? For 9/10th of the game , it was underneath throws and automatic to throws to the backs. What’s with that? Plus never a hurry/up offense option!

WR can’t get open
QB is brutal on short passes or check down throws
OL struggles to run block.

Not sure what the solution is.
Disagree, they are open enough for Lindsey. He’s throwing to the backs because those are the plays.

True, and the OC is responsible for all of it. I think you listed the problems in order of concern. Teaching good route running and situational awareness would do wonders for Drake’s choices.

I’m not on the Harbaugh train, but to be fair, this OL has been horrific at run blocking and merely competent at pass blocking. There is no running game to be had, which is going to make it really hard for an OC. Blame lies with whomever is responsible for the OL (OL coach, Strength coach, recruiters, transfer player evaluators, etc.).

This is a legit take. Thank you.

I’m so tired of these wide receiver screens, they hardly ever work. I wish we would show a little imagination on offense. Why can’t we get our receivers open, they seem to be closely covered all the time.
Hah we were definitely yelling to PJ that they never work! #BringbacktheSlant

I’d argue they’re open enough that Drake gives them a chance, they just never come down with the 50/50 balls. Our WR room has been abysmal this season. Even some of the open plays still end in a brutal drop (like the one before our missed field goal that was also run a yard short of the first down).

The only thing I can think of is run some RPO with WR slants or crossing routes as the pass option.

We actually play better when we play fast as well. I wonder if we did it all game what would the results be.

I agree, we need somethign a little a lot different against Oregon. I really don't care what it is... Just stop throwing WR Screens and running on 2nd & 10. Add a wrinkle. Right now the best thing this team has going is Drake's arm so find a way to take advantage of that.

PJs good ole boys club, hiring cordinators that have been loyal to him instead of a polished professional. Sad.

What, doesnt every coordinator complete 2 passes after 2nd and 8 and still not get a 1st?

The OC did call back to back tunnel screens. Blown up every time. Surely he knows the limitations of the WR?

I thought this far into the portal/nil era we would have seen a couple of OL portal over from our FCS neighbors to the west.

The problem with Harbaugh is that he is widely predictable. Just one small example. Overtime, after the pass interference against us, we have the ball around the 5. He bunches the line and runs the dive. "Itchy Boy" makes a nice hard run. He then calls for the same exact play in the same or similar formation. Now, to his credit, the bootleg was a good call, but for me, there are just way too many of the predictable calls. He needs to let his play calling loose. There are time I think he does okay, but I've never felt he was a very good or awesome play caller. Only here and there, good call. I think this offense could hum, but we choose not to. Now, how much of that is Fleck? I don't know....
This has been my biggest frustration with the offense all year, running similar looks and formations play after play with little variation or wrinkles or changes from week to week This makes the Gophers tendencies easily discernable on film, and for the defense to stack defenders. I realize we are limited by some injuries and lack of experience up front from the Oline and backs. You can't tell me , the Gophers cannot work on and execute some tendency breakers, and game planning that can confuse the defense, whether is jet action, a crossing pitch, quick hook routes to the right ends. Geers is being underutilized right now, he needs to have some of the same route trees like the Michigan State tight ends were running today. Biggest thing is to get the guys healed up and rested up for a few days. Start designing stuff that can utilize tempo and some RPO stuff that shortens amount of time the line needs to block.

PJ won’t hire experienced coordinators because he doesn’t want the conflict that would occur with his ideas. .Rather than have to tell him no, we don’t want that play or scheme, he voids the whole issue by not hiring the problem.
