Fire Coyle, Fire Fleck! Rip the Band-Aid off!!!

You some how think the administration from 1980 is the same as the administration from 2017. We all know they didn’t support for along time. You're blind if you think it hasn’t changed.
Quote me saying the 2017 admin is the same as 1980. Let's see just how honest you are.

He competed against the Alvarez Badgers not the shit show they have now and Drew Brees at Purdue as a couple examples. He was also in the shit hole dome. And yes, absolutely I would rather watch an average Mason game versus an average fFleck game; certainly post Mo.
Same.

You are confusing Texas Tech with Texas A&M, but your point is valid.
No, we are talking about Tech. There's a whole thread about it on the board.

This old man has witnessed a lot. You asked and I provided an answer, actually a great answer.

If you do zero maintenance on your home for a few decades, what happens?

Check that. You don't own a home and lack real world experience.
The only thing that matters at this point is payroll. Without more money to pay players, we've hit a ceiling.

Ferentz is an exceptional coach, he is the longest tenure in the B1G. So if your argument he is better than PJ, I think most would say you are making a strong argument.

However you’re not saying that, you’re saying because Ferentz is better than PJ, we know we can do better than PJ. And the data doesn’t support this conclusion at all.
I’m saying the Iowa fan base isn’t that different than ours. Their program isn’t that different at this point despite this years results. Their floor and ceiling are similar to ours. They have had stretches of mediocrity. One thing they do have that we do not is a larger payroll, at least for coaches.

LOL.
What a steaming pile of right wing horseshit. Currently quite appropriate.
You'd be very wrong. I swear, being a Minnesota fan for my whole life in all sports, I have seen the most quiet crowds in stadiums ever. I want you to think about this, how long has Minnesota been voting blue, the correlation of athletics for the most part for college for the U and the hypocrisy it uses now and the poor hiring just in general of the staff. I love the U but won't go there due to the shit the city is in and how terrible the ideas that are promoted there. There's no innovation, no drive, no heart or soul. If a non-athlete thinks that, what do the high end athletes are thinking when they see Minneapolis outside the campus.

Kill
Who would you rather have?
Fleck or Kill?
Fleck or Brewster?
Fleck or Mason?
Fleck or Gutekunst?
Fleck or Wacker?
Fleck or Holtz? (for 2 yrs)
Fleck or Salem?
Fleck or Stoll?

I’ll take Fleck over all the above. That spans over half a century of The University of Minnesota football. I’m sure the next guy will be better though. History says he will, right?

Thanks for the clarification, I didn’t fully appreciate your point. I tend to agree and am disappointed with the relative apathy of our fanbase in this regard.

Texas A&M is undefeated and came back from a 30 pt deficit yesterday, not Texas tech. Some of the other claims you made about TT are actually A&M as well. But your point is still valid.

I’ve read you takes here a couple of times on Iowa and I have a hard time getting my head around it. Look at their bowl history going back 25 years 10 years and even five years they have been kicking our tails relative to which bowl they go to compared to us forever.

Accepting mediocrity is a choice, for everyone involved.

I’m calling BS on this is what we get, say lah vee, it’s impossible to change, woe is me, can’t do any better, because of any reason you can come up with.

I have higher expectations than that, plain and simple.
The right choices need to be made.
Yes, and the choice is made by people who do or don't pay into NIL.

It’s really disturbing that the majority of Gophers fans are fine with Fleck as long as he leads the team to a low-tier bowl game most years.

If Iowa’s coach were 1-8 against Minnesota, Iowa’s fans would be calling for his head.
If Iowa’s coach lost to Bowling Green, Iowa’s fans would be calling for his head.
If Iowa’s coach recruited in the bottom half of the Big 10 year after year, Iowa’s fans would be calling for his head.
If Iowa’s head coach’s teams’ got worse each year after his predecessors recruits graduated, Iowa’s fans would be calling for his head.

You want to know why we lose to Iowa by 40 points? Because Iowa has an expectation of winning. Comments on this thread show that most of my fellow fans have no such expectations — despite Fleck’s millions of dollars, they are happy with his “at least both teams had fun” moral victory nonsense.
It's more disturbing that you blame the coach and not take personal responsibility and ante up for NIL.

considering Mark Coyle's salary is in the top 1/3 of the BIG, and PJ's salary is the 31st most in the entire country, then yes... we should expect more, ALOT more. Otherwise Mark Coyle's and PJ's salaries should be reduced considerably to reflect the success they have. Mark Coyle said himself after the blowout at OSU, that fans should not expect the U of MN to compete with OSU because of the large difference in athletic budgets between the two schools. Well if that's how Mark Coyle feels then why does he pay himself almost the equivalent of the helmet schools of the BIG. If he can't put a competitive product out there, then why should he be paid like someone who does.
Noticed you didn't rank PJs salary in the B1G. Convenient. FYI, he's out performing his rank.

You can ask them if you come here. I can think of examples immediately of high end athletes that have chosen to stay or come back to Minnesota.

When did I say they haven’t been better than us?

I didn't mention A&M coming back yesterday, must have been someone else. I was specifically talking about TT having a $50 million payroll.

You should probably take your bullshit to the off-topic board.

Disagree. Lots of $$ for top notch coaches is needed.
Say we freed up a couple million more for coaches but had the exact same players. Maybe, MAYBE we beat Cal. But we weren't going to compete with OSU and Oregon. Maybe be more competitive with Iowa?

Ultimately I'd far rather see that money go to buying talent. If the U REALLY, REALLY wants to contend in football and basketball, all the coaching in the world doesn't mean a thing if you don't have talent, and talent costs $.

I don’t think anyone thinks NIL is going down. What will be scrutinized is revenue sharing, the money that the school pays the athletes. The money paid by endorsements, collectives, and Alumni won’t change at all.
This is not correct.

The clearinghouse will not allow any NIL deal that pays higher than market rate for an endorsement, and it has to be a bonafide deal where the athlete has to actually perform services for the money, not a no show job type deal.

The source for this article is On3, which you can look around GopherHole and find their numbers are completely made up.

Why would the most dominant pitcher in college decide to forego her junior and senior season's at STANFORD which was making the college world series to go to a terrible school like Texas Tech which was a nobody until then? Oh, and at that point Mahomes started going to their games for the first time? Yeah, boasting.

A few years back, A&M ran promotions saying $25k to all offensive lineman. For years, Oklahoma has stated they are paying every rostered softball player $40k per year.
Bold: she could have made that decision for 10x less than that. Who's to say for sure? I don't trust anyone who just claims it without showing the receipts, as the kids say. What do they have to hide?

Why do you trust the NiL Go clearinghouse? It’s entirely up to the athlete to report, and there are literally no repercussions for not reporting. Do you really think NiL Go has people monitoring all these athletes social media to make sure their NiL deals match up with the athletes follower count?

The deal doesn't go through in the first place, if it isn't deemed legit.

It's not a matter of following up or self reporting.

The players have to submit the deal to NiL Go, not the schools. Fewer than 20% of NiL deals are even getting submitted. Please don’t bring this up again until a player has been suspended for bypassing NiL Go, it has no teeth
