FICTIONAL Tubby "trial" In Court Of Public Opinion

I don't know how you can be this dense. YOU have brought it up, and if you think people really care what YOU have decided in the "trial" YOU decided to hold you have lost your mind.
There is still plenty of support for Tubby here and frankly YOU aren't helping him with your mythical scenario.

The numbers are overwhelming in his favor. Perhaps it's YOU who are thick?

This thread is like arguing the merits of whether or not Jeffrey Dahmer should have gotten the death penalty or let him get killed in prison. He avoided the the death penalty but got killed in prison. Either way, case dismissed.

I am not sure if I agree with this post. Knight and Lamb may not be around next year either. I don't care how many 5-Star players they get over there, they need some veterans. A great example is OSU this years. Do you think that Sullinger would have been able to win Big10 by himself? My former friends in UK, it ain't gonna happen. We'll be back here next year. Alabama will own UK and SEC for a while.

Go Gophers

Like John Wooden always said, I'll take talent over experience.

FOT, you are pathetic. And stop using the Gophers history as an argument for why Tubby is so great. I don't care that he's better than Dan Monson's 9-22 team. That can't be the whole basis of your arguments. Stop embarrassing yourself and go back to whacking off to your pictures of Tubby.

FOT, you are pathetic... so says GopherFan75. So you disagree with FOT, that makes him pathetic? Give me a break. :drink: beers.

Actually I don't necessarily disagree with him. I am a big Tubby supporter. I just think it is ridiculous how he goes out of his way to defend him at every chance, and uses the same arguments, some of them being flawed or meaningless. This guy has over 7,000 posts in about two years. Might be time for a new hobby.

# of posts is meaningless. New hobby? Think about yourself. Goes out of his way to defend him? How about those that go out of their ways to chastise him. In the words of the great Bob Dylan... Idiot Wind!

He is our Coach, and I SUPPORT HIM!!!!! Win, Lose, or go to Overtime.

FOT, even a 5th grade pony league coach would lock down the other team's best player and 'see if the other 4 could beat us'..

Battle lights us up?? we've faced him, what, 7 prior times?

what did the coaches say at half: 'no way he can keep makin' them'? that alone is worth the $2million / year.

Whoopie Ding...dboy of "Sullinger is over rated fame, takes no talent to rebound missed freethrows, etc, etc, etc, blah blah blah" fame

I presume every other PSU opponent "locked him up" but the Gophers didn't?

The young man is a very good player.

What a freaking moron.

The earlier poster opined that the Gophers at least should be Above .500 in B10 play.

I opined that Gopher history (48% in B10 games) shows that doesn't happen very often.

So that means we can't expect to be .500 now? I don't get the point of using the team's history as your argument.

I would think that if he was THAT good, he would at least be above .500 in league play at Minnesota by now.

I would think that if he was THAT good, he would have had his roster in position where an injury to the starting PG wouldn't mean that the wheels totally fall off.

I would think that if he was THAT good, he could spend February and early March playing for a better seed instead of holding onto a spot in the tournament.

He hasn't been bad. I'm not saying that either. But he hasn't set the world on fire either.

Tubby is doing the best he can to make chicken salad out of cat$hit.

Agree with all points.

BS.

2008 (20 W with 9-22 roster) was good.

2009 (22 W and NCAA bid) was pretty good, too.

2010 (21 W and NCAA again) left 4 or 5 W on the table. 2 in OOC (Miami FL and Tex A&M) and 4 in B10 (Pur and Mich St at home, IU and NWU on the road). SHOULD have been 25+ W regardless.

2011 (17 W so far) just too many key injuries and a quitter. Maybe 20+ W by the end of season.

Expections are 25 W, B10 contenders, Top 3-4 in B10, and W some NCAA games. Minimum.

Said that all year. Where you been?

I don't care what they did in 1948, what don't you get about that?

In recent years (last 10, last 25, whatever) worse than .500 record in B10 also. For EG, last 10 years:

1997–98 20–15 6–10 NIT Champions
1998–99 17–11 6–10 NCAA 1st Round
1999–00 12–16 4–12 none none
2000–01 18–14 5–11 NIT 2nd Round none
2001–02 18–13 9–7 NIT 2nd Round none
2002–03 19–14 8–8 NIT 4th Place none
2003–04 12–18 3–13 none none
2004–05 21–11 10–6 NCAA 1st Round none
2005–06 16–15 5–11 NIT 2nd Round none
2006–07 9–22 3–13 none

That's 59 - 101 (average 6 - 10) in 10 yrs of B10 play B4 Tubby arrived.

Please go away

With all due respect FOT, one bright spot if Tubby decides to leave would be that (presumably) you will go with him. Please, enough of this drivel. Those of us who hope Tubby sticks around and takes this program to where we think it can go don't need to be told every single day that he walks on water and we should wash his feet simply for choosing little ole' Minnesota. As Moonlight said, you are doing him no favors with this drivel.

You haven't paid much attention. 2008 and 2009 were good. 2010 wasn't. 2011 isn't (but other factors - injuries, transfer - are the main reasons) either.

He DOESN'T walk on water. But he doesn't drown either.

Boeheim Said (In 2007)

The hire is especially good for Minnesota considering that there are vacancies at its Big Ten Conference rivals Michigan and Iowa. For Smith, who also coached at Tulsa and Georgia and has a career record of 387-145, the move will probably mean fewer headaches.

“My guess is that he may be making a smart move,” Boeheim said. “Minnesota is a good job. The expectations there are considerably lower..."
