Thoughts?
I think he is well on his way to the required 3 Big Ten wins to secure a job long term.
It's all we required before, and he's definitely on track making us proud.
EXTEND CLAEYS!
Claeys notched another win.
Now it will be awkward if we fire him.
So we'll have to wait for our 6-6 season next year to restart this conversation.

Tell me who are 6 losses are next year?

This team has eight wins three of the last four season to date under the Kill/Claeys era 2010 to present. The best that they have done in a short time in the modern era. Glenn Mason in ten seasons had two 8-win & one 10-win season.
Yet, some people are calling for Claeys to be fired.
We have promising young talent on offense and defense for next season. They lost to PSU in OT 29-26, and to Iowa and Nebraska by a TD. These are games that could have gone the other way.
The kids bought into the Kill/Claeys system. They have graduated more kids in a long time, and improved the APR ranking albeit there have been some off field issues.
Be careful what you wish for.
Be ware of snake oil salesmen (Brewster, Teague).
Also, how do we know the replacement will pan out? Charlie Strong did not pan out in Texas. So did Brady Hoke at Michigan who apparently was on a lot of people's list to replace Brewster.
All in all, I think the Gophers did well with the talent that they have and have improved the football team & culture in so many intangible ways.
Cleays deserves an extension. He is not flashy or charismatic. I am not complaining as long as he continues to get Ws. The contract extension is critical for recruiting.
If the Gopher go out and beat Wisconsin next weekend, there will be no doubters.
Yes. Double-down on this.
What a silly thread. You wait until after next week. Should of saved your thread til after next Saturday. What is one halfway decent reason to do it NOW?????

I think based on what I know about college football, I would offer him a 3 year extension that has a very low buyout.
If he has success the next two years you give him a "real" extension.
If he decides he needs more money to sign an extension you either just let it ride or you let him go
Im on board with claeys the next two years - i believe expecting 16 wins over the two seasons would be appropriate and the 'next step' for the program
How about this for a crazy scenario... Coyle has a guy in his hip pocket. And is just waiting for the season to play out. BUT, Claeys and Co. win in Madison against a top 10 Badger team. Not only would Coyle have a hard time moving his chess pieces after a 9-3 regular season by a first year head coach, but an extension also gets a lot more expensive.
Agreed. Hopefully at least 7 next year and 9+ in 2018
claeys understands that bowl games are important - they are big stages against (usually) a quality opponent. im crossing my fingers for the holiday bowl it would be great to play in san diego against a quality pac12 team
