Not a bad thing to lose a recruiting battle to a blue blood. I'm pretty surprised UNC wants this guy to start out of all the options. If that is the case, they may struggle to make it into the tourney again.

Sorry it sounds like wishful thinking. I think a lot of people probably thought Evans was a lock because of his prior relationship but they never factored in that Evans might care more about cashing in than following his coach. I would bet it is more likely UNC was "sniffing around" long before the dead period (you don't make the kind of offer they did on a whim that is just ludicrous) and Nico knew it.

I am not saying eco or anyone else is lying, I am saying the sources of this information were not paying enough attention and it blinded them to what was really going on. Evans was never close to a lock or a sure thing and that fact was tipped when he didn't make the move right away. He was obviously shopping around looking for the best offer its the only logical conclusion.

I don't like saying this, but USAF is right here.

Like with the Ben Johnson hire, there's not enough info to know for sure. Like with the Heide situation, there was almost certainly mutual interest, but money won out in the end.

When exactly did Bad Gopher bite? There is no point in this thread where he celebrates Kyan coming here. The closest he comes is listing the other two things Pete has said and then this with a question mark.

You really enjoy getting your jollies off on pretending your negativity makes you smarter than others. Pretty sad in an anonymous forum. Actual question, do you need help? I can send you some resources.

Nothing's ever a done deal until it's a done deal. In any case, this is a straw man, as I never bought into the report. Maybe you have me confused with another poster. I was hopeful but never convinced. My take since they were eliminated by Maryland is that he was going to have a lot of suitors, so don't count your chickens before they're hatched.

Why is this such a big deal for you? Is there a larger point you're trying to make?

This seems to be a tough week for some on here, including some of the more toxic usual suspects. It's good to not take sports so seriously that it degrades your well being. Even though I don't appreciate the chaos that contemporary college basketball has turned into, I find that I'm really enjoying this year's hot stove league. I'm curious and hopeful about what the Gophs end up with. One way or another, I'm convinced the program is in good hands and will be on the upswing.

I can't speak to men's basketball, but I personally know former football and hockey players that were taking real classes, even in some harder majors. But they were all athletes 10+ years ago.
