Estime Commits

this is awesome! I had just seen the thread heading on GI and was wondering who the commit is. I believe he has only played one year of football, yet check out his film:

Pretty impressive (athletic, and fast)

Wedley - we are PUMPED to have you in Maroon and Gold!!!

Welcome aboard! I believe he will be the first Wedley to play football at the U. Very impressive video too, check out the pursuit at the 2:15 mark.

hmmm

I was in Delray Beach this past week. And now he commits? Coincidence? I think not.

Well.. looks like you are going to have to put some more time off so you can make more 'trips'.. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to help the team, man!

Does anyone who follows recruiting closely know about how many D1 kids come out of Delray Beach a year? It seems like they have a bunch of players come through there.

I like him!, Great pursuit, fast!, can get up field, good decision making, sound tackling, No quit. I like it

What is the story with this kid? I heard he had only played ball for 1 year, but why are moe schools in on this kid. Siz, speed, and tenacity al in the DE position. His YouTube clip looked unreal.

Are we going to be able to get this kid into school?

Why else wouldn't the big 3 out of Florida lock up a potential stud DE after a couple of years of refinement?

Just because the Florida schools haven't recruited him doesn't mean he can't get into school or there are other issues. Hope if these kids read things about themselves on these boards they can look past the short sightedness of some of the posters.

His motor never stops. He could be a John Randle in the making! Hard not to like this guy.

My favorite part of the video was him catching a running back from behind 50 yards downfield. Impressive.

Very excited about this commit; he has a lot of potential. I'm hoping they can land Perine & Richardson also.

Link

:confused:I do not find where it says that he has committed to the us, just interest is high?? Do you have a link?

If the kid has truly only played fb for a year that is a great get. He has great football skills. He contains on nearly every play before making a play. Very well coached.

Perfect fit for Jerry Kill's defensive scheme.

This recruit is the perfect fit for Jerry Kill's defensive scheme. It's patterned afer what Gary Patterson does at TCU. The focus is on fast and athletic defensive ends who raise havoc in every way possible. If you watched TCU's win over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, you'll see where Minnesota's defenses are now headed.

Is there confirmation he committed? I'm unable to find it anywhere.

After viewing the highlight video, I find it hard to believe that this kid has only played one year of high school football. It's just amazing what he can do on the field. He looks like he has great potential to develop into a real "blow 'em up" defensive player.

Minnesota has been looking to add defensive lineman to the 2011 recruiting class and they were able to do so last night. Delray Beach (Fla.) defensive end Wedley Estime extended a verbal commitment to the Golden Gopher staff and is expected to sign a National Letter of Intent with the University of Minnesota next Wednesday. [details]

Welcome Wedley...we look forward to watching you smash Badgers, Huskers and Hawkeyes!

Great video! Great athleticism, looking like a young Jevon Kearse, might be why he wears #90? :)

I assume you just mean Atlantic HS in Delray Beach and not the city as a whole. Well, we're pulling 2 out of Atlantic this year and as I understand it there is also a DT that could be DI material.

We pulled Kirkwood last year and we nearly had a 4* WR (James Louis) that had committed to Ohio State but had some grade issues so OSU slow played him until they missed on 4 or 5 straight 4-5 star prospects in January and then honored his offer on NSD.

So based on the past two years I'd say 2-3 but I'm not sure if that has always held true. I do know that we previously had pulled Brandon Owens out of there too. The Minnesota connection with Atlantic is that their former coach (up until this past season) was a DB at Minnesota in the 80's.
