ENOUGH!

OK, break down the schedule are show me 8 wins!

Wow, you must be a troll or at the very least a childish provocateur. :pig::pig::pig:

I have repeatedly predicted 7 or 8 wins for this team, with potential upsets in other games if things break right. I doubt the Gophers will win 9 games, but I have equal doubts that they will win 6 or less. I say it´s a conservative prediction because I anticipate being correct about the Gophers winning at least 7 games.

So before you put words in my mouth read my previous and detailed predictions for the upcoming season here.

Carter and Watkins are SPECIAL!

@Middle Tennessee St - We've never lost a game in this stadium. I don't see this being the first one - W
- South Dakota - Easiest game on the schedule - W
- USC - USC is not that good, especially defensively against the run. Kiffin is in his first year there. I think the Gophers can take this at home but logic says the stud farm will rise - L
- Northern Illinois - They almost stole one in 2008. We will not overlook them. - W
- Northwestern - They lost to graduation their QB and a slew of receivers on offense, McManus and Wooton on D. Should be a big homecoming W. - W
- @Wisconsin - They run like 5 plays but dammit, they work. Close game. Signature - W
- @Purdue - We won there last time against a better Purdue team but will be close. - W
- Penn State - No Darryl Clark and squad riding high on ranking. - W
- Ohio State - Pryor and gang show medal - L
- @Michigan State - Spartans pay us back for the Halloween gift last year and take in OT - L
- @Illinois - Should have kicked their asses last year. Still close though. - W
- Iowa - Stanzi Interceptions - Can you spell January Bowl?

Conservatively speaking, may drop another game between Wisky, Purdue and PSU.

The team I watched all spring is the most talented (particularly defensively) I've seen in my lifetime as a die hard Gopher fan. This fall the Gophers will win 7-8 games. I consider that a conservative prediction.
Thank you Frozen Gopher for your much needed assessment. Now, if we could only get bailsalez to post over here too...
Having a nice chuckle at that one....

That's 5-7 buddy boy.

MTSU simply has better players than the Gophers. Plus, Minnesota is on the road. It's not going to be a good start to the season. I've seen a couple people on here banking on a W against Wisconsin. Why? What has this coaching staff done to prove the Gophs can win that game AT WISCONSIN?

Great thread. My favorite was the post predicting the win in Madison. Good stuff as always!

7-8 wins - I am adding that to my signature as well!

A thread asking for a little good feeling turns to the same negative b.s. Right now everybody's picks are the same, guesses. Some will be accurate, some will not. I think this summer will tell us a lot. I don't think holding off on the negative stuff for awhile is a lot to ask. That's not too much is it?

if some of you are so down on this season why do you continue to post on here? we get it you dont think they will be good. I just dont get why you would continue to repeatedly try and convince optimistic fans why we are going to suck, what good does that do? sadly i think a good majority of people on here are just trolls and have turned a lot of the regular posters away

I like how this thread turned out. Riiiiiiiiiight.

Are some of your lives really that miserable that you have to come here, mock anyone who has any semblance of optimism towards this season, and rant that we're going to be .500 at best? Get a grip, support your players, support your coaches, and most importantly, support Goldy and your university. This is supposed to be a site for fans, not naysayers.

One or two trolls is natural, but nowadays threads literally get flooded with negativity. Those kids are playing for us, guys, and some of them come here and read this too. Don't insult them by saying how bad it's going to be this season, or argue about their talent level. If this website were indicative of the actual fanbase, I sure as hell would not want to be a Golden Gopher if I were a prospective recruit.

There's a lot of pride taken in when they wear that block M. Reciprocate that pride. Be honest to goodness Golden Gopher fans. Unabashed optimism can only hurt the optimist, but pessimism spreads like the plague. Leave it be.

Why would we want to do that? both Iowa and Wisconsin are barely better than us. I don't see either one of those teams in the National Championship. Why would we not want to out Ohio State Ohio State or out Florida Florida?

Walk before you can run, brother. Let's start contending for a Big Ten title before we start proclaiming our need for a national title. In fact, if you win a Big Ten title, then you're a potential player for the national title.

both Iowa and Wisconsin are barely better than us.

Iowa has finished the season ranked in the AP Top Ten FOUR TIMES this decade. They've been in the national title discussion in November twice this decade.

Big Ten records since 2002:

1. 54-10 Ohio State (6 Big Ten titles, 7 BCS bowl games)
2. 42-22 Iowa (2 Big Ten titles, 2 BCS bowl games)
3. 41-23 Michigan (2 Big Ten titles, 3 BCS bowl games)
4. 37-27 Wisconsin (0 Big Ten titles, 0 BCS bowl games)
5. 36-28 Penn State (2 Big Ten titles, 2 BCS bowl games)
6. 31-33 Purdue
7. 30-34 Northwestern
8. 27-37 Michigan State
9. 24-40 Minnesota
10. 17-47 Illinois
11. 12-52 Indiana

I'm not sure I consider an 18-game difference to Iowa in conference record and a 13-game difference to Wisconsin in conference record as "barely better than us." Wis is 13-2 against us the last 15 head-to-head matchups, including wins in six straight, many by blowout. Iowa is 8-1 against us in the last nine, including a handful by blowout. Not to mention Iowa has been to seven January bowl games this decade, Wisconsin has been to four.....we've been to NONE. Let's try to recognize where all three programs are as we try to fight up the food chain. Gunning for them is smart. Brewster didn't start in the best spot, that's for sure, but he has lots of work to do before we start talking about national titles or proclaiming that Iowa or Wisconsin are "barely better than us." They've dominated us. Heck, just beating either or both of Iowa or Wisconsin is a decent enough start at this point.
