Elliott Eliason

Probably not the most tactful thing Tubby could say, but based on nine games into his Gopher career, it does appear that Elliot has more upside, esepcially on the offensive end than Colt. I took the comment to be less dissing of Colt and more complimenting E.

Well Said

Iverson quitting the team is a lot more disrespectful than Tubby telling a reporter that he likes his new player better than his old player. Only in Minnesota would we be debating this.

Well what if he would have said he has more upside than Ralph, how would the reaction have been different?

I like Easy E's game but I can't stand his never ending bitching about foul calls. That and he can't dunk...

My bold prediction for next year: Eliason will lead the Big Ten in blocks per game. His blocks per 40 minutes played were almost identical to Hammons this year and Hammons is the top returning shot blocker.

You're assuming that Tubby will play him often...I hope you're right, but Tubby seems to like Mo Walker an awful lot. I hope this is not another Ralph > Iverson Tubby decision, but I fear it.

Mo Walker has to drop significant pounds before he's worthy of consistent minutes.

If EE can have a career comparable to Trevor Winter's, I can live with that. I don't like his complaints after foul calls but he has a lot of passion for the game and I respect that.

Mbakwe will be gone so that opens up a bunch of minutes there. Not sure why you say that about Walker. EE has played 440 minutes this year compared to Walker's 193. EE has played 65 minutes the last five games, Walker just 22.

He already has and has 2 more years to play.

He already is better than Trevor Winter. He does complain on every call which is nauseating. The ref can't be wrong on every call.

He seems to have gotten better at not doing that, however. I feel like it has been cut down in at least.

Maybe Tubby addressed it with him.

I am extremely comfortable with Elliott stepping into the starting role next year. He took a huge step forward this year and I expect him to be even better next year.

Thanks for the stats, I had been wondering what the exact number was. My point is more that it seems EE has deserved much more than a 2-2.5 to 1 ratio of playing time over Mo, given on-floor results this year.

I agree and I really like the centers Michigan, Purdue, and Iowa brought in this year. It never gets easier in the B1G.

I don't disagree with you. Huge Mo still hasn't adjusted to the speed of the game and needs a defined role and consistent minutes to do so imo. At times this year I felt we paid a price so Huge Mo and Oto will be ready for next season.

Not sure if anyone was watching the Butler-Marquette game, but I thought Andrew Smith of Butler was pretty similar to EE. Maybe slightly smaller/slightly more skilled, and I think EE is a bit of a more intimidating defender, but they looked pretty similar to me. Then again, I've been a big EE fan basically forever, so I may be reaching.

I could be wrong, but it seems like the times Walker has seen more minutes than usual, it's been because of foul trouble (like last night). I'm not as critical as some of Walker, but I tend to be a glass half full type of guy.

I see EE getting about 25 minutes a game next year with Walker at about 15. We might see a few minutes with both in at the same time but hopefully only sparingly. I do think it can be successful with EE's ability in the high-low game. He's a very good passer from the free throw line area and has actually knocked down a few jumpers from there as well lately.

I agree with you that EE should play a little more but I don't think Walker is the issue. This is nothing like Iverson and Ralph considering EE is far above Walker on the depth chart. If anything I think we should've seen more Rodney at SF and Coleman out so that Elliot could play more or just less Rodney when he was struggling so much.

Mo Walker needs to get on the Dexter Pittman weight loss and conditioning plan, who over at the U is going to convince him? Don't tell me Moses Alipate.
