This is a message board. Different standards, at least in my opinion... but can certainly stop sharing tiny tidbits like that. Also, I doubt any of these folks want to go on the record right now. November 28 might be a different story.

If there are different standards then go ahead and give us some more details. Are they on deep background or off the record? Don't name names in either case, but at least give us an idea as to what is being said.
off the record = don't use
background = usable, but don't attach my name
Uneasiness. A sense that apathy will set in. A belief that the Nov. 27 Iowa game will be like a home game for them. They have noticed vitriol/outrage directed at Brew/the team for 3-straight home games. The stadium will only be must-see for so long. It's beautiful, but eventually they have to win to keep it full, sell the suites, etc.
Chris: Well aware where you stand. With your son a starter and a leader, so put in a position to succeed, and has by the way, by Brew, wouldn't expect you to feel any other way. But when you lose to two Dakota schools in four years, plus have a 55-0 loss to Iowa on your resume, so have three of the four or so worst losses in the program's history, enough is enough... confusion still occurring -- timeout burned on offense late yesterday... #1 in penalties two straight years (a personal foul penalty in all but two games last year)... offensive ineptitude not seen around here in a long time last year... I've seen enough. He said the program was "light-years" ahead of when he took it over. He also said this was his most athletic team to date. His spewing of BS has to stop. They have better talent. But what evidence is there that he can coach them up? If you listened to the whole show, my co-host, Phil Mackey, said he was rooting against the Gophers. I never would do that. Also said they will win "games" the rest of the season. Maybe even next week against a beatable USC team. But when you lose to a middle-tier 1-AA team, in my opinion, no win or wins the rest of the year can erase that. Just my feelings. If you want to call me "unrational" so be it. But we have to remember the side that you're coming from. An extremely biased one.
By the way, my venom is nothing compared to numerous people within the athletic department.
Wouldn't shock me if he played very well next week, and helped beat an average USC team. Saw them vs. Virginia last night, and they are beatable... and considering that the staff has been game-planning for USC for a while, I expect them to play well. Still can't make-up for a loss to a middle-tier 1-AA team. Just my thoughts.
already hedging your bets, i see. just in case the gophers can pull of a win against an "average" USC.
hedging what bets? Haven't laid out a solid take on this game outside of preseason predicting a 6-6 record, and this being one of the losses. Since they have been game-planning for this game for a while, I do expect a much, much, much better performance. Will it be enough to beat a coach that was turned down by the "U", so he may have a long memory? We'll see.

But that's NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!!
I have been critical of some of the coverage from the local media in the recent past. Specifically, I believe that both 1500am and 1130am have taken unnecessarily cheap shots at the Gopher Football Program in past. Specifically, these outlets would chide the Gophers for throttling a FCS opponent in the past (remember when that used to happen), and at the same time would criticize the team for not beating those same said teams. Or, they would criticize the Gophers for scheduling the "Dakota-directional-esque" teams in 1st place, but then, when scheduling/playing and then getting beat by say, Cal, they would rip the team for not being able to defeat an "upper tier" program.
In other words, the Gophers were in an absolute no-win situation. They made piling on and snarky criticism of Gopher football a cottage industry. These facts are irrefutable.
That said . . .
I listened to your entire program on my (long) drive home yesterday, and the analysis and criticisms were deserved, considered, objective, and realistic.
The show was spot-on, and I applaud you. Good job.
I ask only that, when that day comes in the future, when the program is deserving of praise and accolades, that objectivity and realism reign the day then, too.

Yes, 2 games into the season is pretty unexpected. Was losing to South Dakota unexpected? It seems like some people still don't realize that we just lost to SOUTH DAKOTA. There is no way to defend it at all. I have been on the Brewster side until this game, I thought we all understood this couldn't happen again? What's it going to take for some of you, going 1-11 again? Or is that 0-12 the magic mark?
I must not be clear in getting my point across. I will try again. Losing to South Dakota should never be exceptable. Regardless of injuries, bounces of the ball or weather. However, losing to SD only counts as one loss on our record and we still have 10 more games to define what kind of season we will have.
The media should be very critical of the gophers for losing this game. However, ANYONE that says the season has been defined and determined by that ONE loss and nothing that happens over the next 10 weeks will matter is at best being unrational.[/QUOTE]
Wow, that's verbatim from the chief! Good soldier!
Not diminishing anything... but to 100% ignore would be foolish. I believe you were the one who called me "unrational" to start with.
That's the whole idea of this board. Opinions can be written. They obviously can be disagreed with. Wouldn't shock me at all if they beat an average USC team next week. They've been game-planning for that game for a while... I expect them to play well, and they will win gameS the rest of the season... but just believe the ill-will created from a loss vs. an average 1-AA team can't be erased.
there isnt any evidence showing these kids havent been coached up so to speculate on things you have no clue whether true or not is pretty weak! im willing to bet all these kids are much better football players from when they stepped onto campus to now...just sayin!

Oh screw you (lol). How about this...we will take it one game at a time...the names on the back of the jersey don't matter, what matters is the name on the front of the jersey...there is nothing to fear but fear itself.
