Doogie: U official says "many" tickets still available from MN ticket allotment

Go Gophers!!

Shocker! I'm surprised they didn't break into air time to notify all of Minnesota!

My wife and I went last year and had a blast (except for the outcome of the game). She is a Minnesota girl and I only transplanted there for 16 years including my time at the U. As you can probably tell from my login name, we live in Atlanta now. I asked if she wanted to go to the bowl game this year again and she said sure. Then she asked where is it? I mumbled something about Detroit. She started laughing.

Could be worse...could be in Fargo.

Wanted to buy from the U to be "counted" towards the Gophers travel census, but tickets were $65-$89 APIECE. Couldn't pass up buying directly through the Lions/UAW. They offered a 4-pack special for lower bowl (endzone) seats for $84 TOTAL, out the door.

And once you're in the building, you'll be able to sit damn near anywhere you want.

Bowl game tickets through the U are often stupidly overpriced compared to the market.

Yup. I got them for last year's Citrus for less then $30 each and sat in the first row, second deck between the 30 and 40 yd line (thank you corporate no shows). I'm pretty sure everyone in attendance this year will be on or within a yard or two of the 50.

This is an issue. I struggle with this for every away game I go to. Do I buy thru the U and sit in bad seats or do I buy through other channels and pay less for (much) better seats. This year I bought tickets to the game at Iowa through the IA ticket office - sat 20 yard line, 20th row for well under what tickets were thru the U. I really wish they could figure that out.

All thirty of you.

My attendance was wife vetoed with a similar reaction to the destination city... Too bad the Creative Charters didn't sell singles, I would have probably grabbed my SLR camera and gone solo.

Mrs. Billd was ready to pull the trigger on this one and go.

I came up with enough excuses to wuss it and not go.

No regrets but it does make me appreciate the Missus.

I wanted to go, thought about a quick in and out trip to see the game but family plans and a new baby kinda threw that out the window.

Not surprised there isn't a lot of demand, not a terrible location, but still a northern bowl.... not a lot to attract folks either.

We are giving away two tickets to Gophers fans for the Quick Lane Bowl. If you are going to the Bowl and do not have tickets yet, please respond to this thread for a chance to win the two tickets we'll give away!

You either haven't been to Detroit in the last 60 years and/or currently live in Syria.

This isn't unique to the U it is across the board with Bowl games I believe. The schools are typically allotted tickets in some of the most high priced sections of the stadium so the fans wanting to buy through the school have to shell out big bucks to get the tickets. At the same time, outside of the top games, most of these games are not well attended so tickets are dirt cheap on the secondary markets.

It will be interesting to see where our final ticket sales numbers come in for the Quick Lane Bowl. Have to imagine they are going to be pretty low which will shock no one given the location of the game and the relative excitement around the program coming off a 5-7 season. It is a no win situation for the U being stuck with really high priced tickets to a game most don't want to attend.

I bought from the U and ended up with great seats, though I can see both sides of it. If you're going to make the trip however you get in the door is great. I'm not sure why people tend to laugh at any bowl game as some inconsequential event. You're on National TV, it's great for recruiting, it's a hell of a lot better than sitting at work on a Monday in December no matter where it is, and the team benefits during a period of change.

I get why people don't go, but i'm of the mindset you never poke fun or laugh at your team. You just get up and support them the next day, the past is the past.

So is there even a bus trip option for students?

Heck are there student tickets for sale for U students?

The U sent us a text to sponsor a student for 400.00. I said we're saving it for the increased donation prices on season tickets. Btw...the band is busing it to Detroit.
