Doogie: U official says "many" tickets still available from MN ticket allotment

You either haven't been to Detroit in the last 60 years and/or currently live in Syria.

Greenfield Village is nice, dinner in Greektown, the Windsor Ballet, lots of things to do in Detroit.

This isn't unique to the U it is across the board with Bowl games I believe. The schools are typically allotted tickets in some of the most high priced sections of the stadium so the fans wanting to buy through the school have to shell out big bucks to get the tickets. At the same time, outside of the top games, most of these games are not well attended so tickets are dirt cheap on the secondary markets.

It will be interesting to see where our final ticket sales numbers come in for the Quick Lane Bowl. Have to imagine they are going to be pretty low which will shock no one given the location of the game and the relative excitement around the program coming off a 5-7 season. It is a no win situation for the U being stuck with really high priced tickets to a game most don't want to attend.

I've noticed this year that ESPN does not include attendance to any of the bowl games (yet) in the box scores, they've always done this in the past and the football bowl game nerd in me would always look. From what I've seen on TV so far, only the Las Vegas Bowl looked full (haven't seen alll games, but checked in on many)

I don't doubt your observations. Keep in mind that the LV bowl is played at 40,000 seat capacity Sam Boyd Stadium and had BYU vs. Utah which is essentially in the backyards of each program. More power to the LV bowl for getting this match up but the vast majority of these meaningless bowls are played before empty seats.

The empty seats at most of these games look terrible on TV. Kind of a shame for the players as well because there is so little atmosphere at the stadium but it is what it is in a lot of cases where you have mediocre teams that the local fan base just isn't going to shell out money to go see. ESPN does list attendance figures and they show 25K for the Toledo/Temple game and 21K for the Western Kentucky/South Florida game. Those definitely must be paid numbers and not butts in the seats.
