just hire Brian Dutcher already
The guy is 31-30 coaching a team with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard on the roster, two players on the NBA 75th anniversary all-time team. But I’m sure he would regularly compete for Big Ten titles with high school and portal guys.
Welp, after they crushed OKC last night to win the Emirates Cup 97-81, they are now on a 13-3 roll; last night’s W, doesn’t count in the standings. They were 32-14 last year when Adrian Griffin was fired, and Doc pulled that squad to a 17-19 record the rest of the way and went one and done in the playoffs. Never been impressed by the guy.
I hope they do, but my original argument still stands that Doc has Giannis and Dame, so he SHOULD be having that kind of success, not go a combined 19-27 in his first 46 games, especially after the guy who was fired and whom he replaced was 30-13. I do believe getting Darvin Ham back on the staff has helped get Giannis back to his elite MVP-level play, and that’s a credit to Doc for hiring him.Welp, after they crushed OKC last night to win the Emirates Cup 97-81, they are now on a 13-3 roll; last night’s W, doesn’t count in the standings.
I watched the first half and they asked Dame, why he was playing so much better now, and he said he’s comfortable now. After the trade he’d come home to a dark dwelling, no lights on, no kids running around, no wifey and it wasn’t good for him mentally. Makes all the sense in the world to me; it’s easy to forget these guys are human beings and subject to the same insecurities/issues we all have.
BTW, Giannis was beast mode extraordinaire; 26/19/10 he didn’t mess around on that triple double. Oh yeah, Middleton didn’t play last night either.
Doc also has the second most wins for active coaches behind Pops; he is in no way in Pops league, but he ain’t no bum either.
Maybe I’ll check back in with you for the playoffs. Bucks are now leading the NBA in team 3 point %: if that holds up, they can beat anyone my friend.
We’ll agree to disagree on their importance of their prior record and I’ll leave it at that.I hope they do, but my original argument still stands that Doc has Giannis and Dame, so he SHOULD be having that kind of success, not go a combined 19-27 in his first 46 games, especially after the guy who was fired and whom he replaced was 30-13. It sure was important last season when they massively underachieved. They seem to have re-found their championship-level gear this season, and you’re right, if they stay at this level they’ve got to be the favorites to win it all. But the playoffs are the only thing that matters, so we’ll see. As a Bucks fan, my fingers are crossed. We’ll agree to disagree on their importance of their prior record and I’ll leave it at that.
I didn’t realize you were a Bucks fan, so your deep interest makes things clearer now. I hope the Bucks can do it this season as I like when non-coast teams win and it’s good for the league. This season would be seen to be a good window for them, with Boston maybe a little less desperate than last year and OKC’s Holmgren injury and possibly needing more seasoning. I know Chet’s supposed to be back before the break, but I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t take him till next season to get Bach yo his pre-injury level. It sure was important last season when they massively underachieved.
