Might be a huge longshot, but I would be enthusiastically behind Coyle going after Doc hard. He has a tie to the basketball program.
Sure, does he even want to coach anymore? I have no idea where he's at career wise.

Guarantee his introduction at the barn would pack the place. He would walk to center court with a mic, say "I'm here to win the Big Ten... right now. Let's get to work." Then walk off the court.

He’ll likely have a chance to go coach Milwaukee or Phoenix.

Hardly see someone at his age, whose never coached collegiately to start at this juncture.

The U also could never pay him the salary an NBA team can.

? Because he’s the nephew of Jim Brewer who played here 50 years ago? Is that the tie you are speaking of?

Wow - this would be some elite level narcissistic provincialism.

Almost as good as when my hometown tried to claim Tom Brohaw as one of our own cause he lived there in Fifth grade.

Did I not say a huge longshot? I'm sure the "whoa is me" gaggle of glass half empty posters out here can find dozens of reasons to shoot it down. You provided two to get it started, nice work.

Great post, Sunshine.
You set up that up and I'll work the phones for 100 Dinky Town subscribers and I'll organize a tail gate party for the group with an appearance by Doc at the Gophers Nebraska opener.

My opinion hopefully doesn’t matter two 💩 to Mark Coyle or likely anyone on here, I ain’t that important/relevant, kiddo.

You took a big swing and missed - so what, laugh it off and move on or dig a deeper hole 🕳️ and blame others for your brain freeze.

Play stupid games, get stupid prizes.

Maybe it isn't Doc Rivers, but I applaud the thought - innovation disrupts the way things have always been done. Going to the NBA ranks to pluck coaches isn't particularly new, but it would shake things up for a program that needs it.

Took a big swing? He posted a thought...how low are your standards?

It's a super duper long shot...but it didn't even rank on the list of bad coaching ideas this board has come up with. Football used to always have doozies.

Depends on your 📏, I guess.

I thought it was inane and I wasn’t the only one, Mr. Marc Tony Trestman-Dungy 🤣

There isn’t a pro coach out there that would not jump at a chance to coach the Gophers. I imagine they keep Coyle’s phone ringing.

Speaking of coaching ideas, I don't think there's ever been a better thread than the Shaka Smart one about what, 10 years ago now? Didn't that thing get to like 70 pages? That was a DOOZIE of a thread (coaching idea was great, but the thread was nuts lol).

Ditto, my post clearly got under your skin...and I'll take that as a Yes.

Posters who take themselves too seriously and can’t 🥜 up and admit when they’re off when posting something inane - that’s what annoys me, i.e. my sin - my immaturity.

I misspelled Klay Thompson’s first name and have another poster correct me, and I give him a 👍, and corrected the title, to goof on myself.

I’ll ignore your posts going forward- it will be painful, but I’ll soldier on.

Have a great day, unless you’ve made other plans😃

The Shaka thread was pure genius! When someone photoshopped him on a rollercoaster eating a hot dog I lost it!

Dpdoll scoping out the airport was another great moment!

I would respectfully ask why you (& others) are so dismissive of the idea of looking at the NBA coaching ranks. Sure, the majority of them are looking for NBA jobs, but guys like Hoiberg, Woodson, and Shrewsberry were in the NBA. PSU and Nebraska are not destination jobs, but they are in the same destination conference that MN is in. Again, maybe not Doc, but there might be someone. Wasn't there a former T-Wolf-turned-coach interested when Johnson was hired?

When those two names came up each time it gave me a migraine. But I remember when people wanted Hohensee to take over...
