I am not sure how much he grew in college but I remember a similar discussion back then about him and how his game would look if he were playing D1 ball. He certainly was able to take it the next step and had a pretty decent pro career. He went D3 to the pros.

Is that why Chris Bosh puts up the exact same numbers with the Heat as he did with Toronto?

No one is saying "the offense runs through him" so he is a bad player." They are saying he won't put up those exact same numbers on a better team where the offense is not run through him.

What are you saying? If Nate wasn't there best player he wouldn't score as much? Earth shattering observation. Of course he wouldn't score as much here, doesn't mean he isn't a great player.

I agree. Others seem not to. They think he'd score 40 points per game with the Gophers.

It's not like we have a bunch of great guards that he'd have to beat out. He would play and play a lot.

He would probably be our 6th man, and a darn good one at that.

If I knew this was such a touchy subject for Gopher fans I wouldn't have brought it up earlier today! But seriously, he would be our sixth man at worst. He would maybe start over Coleman.

Who I wonder more about is Muscala from Bucknell. How big of a role would he play on this team?

I wouldn't take it that far

Just about to say that. Our stabilizing force/lethal attack off the bench.

Tbh, I SEE ALVIN ELLIS BEING THE TYPE OF PLAYER HERE AT MINNESOTA THAT WOLTERS WOULD HAVE BEEN. A 6th man and deadly scoring threat off the bench.

Also, could Anders Broman become the next Nate Wolters?

Wolters would start over either Coleman or Austin. Some of ya'll have some serious maroon and gold glasses on.

Based on what information?

Field Goal Percentage:

Joe Coleman: 51.5%
Austin Hollins: 41.7%
Nate Wolters: 45.7%

Three Point Percentage:

Joe Coleman: 33.3%
Austin Hollins: 38.0%
Nate Wolters: 34.3%

Turnovers:

Joe Coleman: 2.3/game
Austin Hollins: 1.3/game
Nate Wolters: 2.3/game

And Wolters is shooting against smaller, slower players.

Just playing devils advocate. How do there other statistics compare? Starters shouldn't be determined by points alone. Look at James Harden when he was with the Thunder. How do there defensive numbers compare?

Wolters would be a nice option off the bench. No chance he starts due to his lack of defense. He is a very good offensive threat but these hypothetical questions are kinda dumb since wolters wouldn't be the same guy at all! Tubby would never ask him to shoot as much as he does. I really don't think wolters is anywhere near the same player at Minnesota as he is at sdsu

Sure he would, Nate's mom.

Austin is arguably the most complete player on this team (defense, ball handling, passing, shooting, etc.). There is absolutely 0 chance that lil' Nate would start over him. None.

Say he could play at the high major level, fine. That's a defensible position. Say he would definitely start on a Top 10 team and you just look foolish.

Steals:

Joe Coleman: 1.4/game
Austin Hollins: 2.1/game
Nate Wolters: 1.6/game

Fouls:

Joe Coleman: 1.4/game
Austin Hollins: 1.8/game
Nate Wolters: 2.0/game

Blocks:

Joe Coleman: 0.6/game
Austin Hollins: 0.7/game
Nate Wolters: 0.1/game

One again, Wolters is going against smaller, slower competition.

I would like to know who voted Nate being "our best player" I would like to add that group of 12 to my ignore list

Oh good god. When you have to carry an offense you end up taking more contested shots with more defensive attention coming your way, which can cause your FG% to be a little lower and TO's a little higher. This is elementary basketball stuff.

I could pick and choose individual stats that help my argument while ignoring the ones that don't too. Give me a break.

Wolters doesn't play any defense, that is why he would struggle playing for the gophers

Yep, those 5 foot 3 guards from who gives a crap state must do a great job of altering his shots.

I would love to see you try to take this argument to literally any other basketball forum on the internet and see what people tell you.

Yeah, not like he didn't dominate New Mexico and Alabama already this year. You're just embarrassing yourself at this point.

Go start the Convo on the Michigan or Indiana board and I will join in with the rational debate that would occur based on this hot topic

They'd tell you that there is a reason he is playing ball at jackrabbit town.

Aren't you the guy with Ben Woodside's dick permanently placed in your mouth? Lol. Go find yourself an ndsu board because no one takes you seriously here.

Hey, if people who try to tell me with a straight face that Austin Hollins is a better basketball player than Nate Wolters, don't want to take me seriously, then I have to say that I prefer that.

He was just announced as one of the 25 Wooden Award finalists. Obviously most people are seeing things that you basketball geniuses aren't.

Maybe mates game projects to the nba level better than Austin's? I will take Austin's defense and a top ten ranking over wolters offense vs a low tier conference. Wolters is a nice player but I would rather have a guy that can play defense
