DO YOU PART and email Joel Maturi ---> [email protected]

If anyone gets any responses please give us a little summary of what he says.

I'm beginning to think the emails need to go to Bruinicks, Marturi needs to go too

oh how i have been waiting for this day....only making it official could make me happier......maybe the U could pull a st. cloud and get rid of their football program to save a buck

Maturi's response: Certainly it wasn't a good day for any of us.

This also just in, it's hot in Arizona...

Got my reply: "Certainly a tough day for all of us."

Say what you want at least Maturi responds to your e-mail Whether he will do what is necessary to move this program in a positive direction remains to be seen.

Brewster has had 2 recruiting classes!! At best, "his" players are sophomores on the team (I'm sure a number of them are RS frosh)....he needs AT LEAST 2 more seasons before any decisions should be made about getting rid of him.

If him and his staff can't coach the talent he has against the last couple opponents, it won't matter if he has "his recruits" HE CAN'T COACH.

I said Fire Brewster, Hire Mike Leach.

He responded with:

Tough day for all Gopher fans – no arguments from me.

Joel Maturi

You guys are fu*king morons. There is zero chance that Brewster or Maturi are going to resign or be fired in the middle of the season.

So.... you are saying get rid of Brew and turn into the Iowa State of the Big 10 with a constant coaching change or the disaster known as Notre Dame? I have a hard time not allowing him to coach a full class of his own before getting rid of a guy. After next season if we are at the same point, he needs to be gone.

THESE ARE HIS OWN LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!

None of that matters, we should have beaten this team with one hand behind our backs. I'm sick of the excuses. Someone over there at the U needs to have a spine and say "this is NOT acceptable" Eden Prairie H.S. could have played better defense. I was sitting near a bunch of coaches and they were in disbelief as to why we weren't making any adjustments on D. If he gets 2 more seasons, I'm done and so will a ton of other fans be.

Glen Mason looked like a cat with a mouse in his mouth as he smiled and chatted on the BTN. I can't blame him.

my email back said "not a good day - no disagreement."

You could hand brewster the Alabama team and he couldn't win he doesn't have it I could count on one hand the times he actually talks to his players during the game he seems more concerned with the refs

Really? Really?!?! What the heck have you been watching for the last 3+ years. Worst season record ever in school history, worst home shutout loss ever, losses to schools from NoDak and SoDak. Revolving door in place with the OC and DC. What has he done to earn another two years? And please don't try and sell me on his vaunted recruiting abilities...

Really!

Holy sh!t people, this is the 3rd time this guy's quote has been commented on today. If you guys take a look at the date, this comment was made almost a year ago, I'm sure whoever posted this is singing a different tune today.

Everyone just email Maturi and Bruinicks

My bad... Missed the original post date... Sorry.

NO Chance, Joel has already suffering the most.

Why would I waste my breath with emailing Joel Maturi? He hired Tim Brewster and took this risk in the first place. That say's a lot about Joel and that he is easily fooled. Does not seem like a dumb guy either, and is conservative, so I guess just don't get why he reached this far on a coach. IT was a high risk, but was it worth taking a chance on no head coaching experience when everyone thought that was not prudent at the time. Sorry but after Dan Monson almost ruined the basketball crowds at the Barn for quite a while, just never trusted Maturi to make the hire for the football coach.
If Monson snowed Maturi, it was my hope he would never get the chance to hire the football coach. That and he all but fired Monson and then backed out. All water under the bridge though now, it is too late to save us from Joel getting to make this call. Maturi has seemed good for the program financially a faithful steward of the public's money, but look's like he missed pretty bad on the football coach.
Brew is his man, and Maturi, his career as AD will be forever be painted with the brush of this hire and the fact that he hired Tim Brewster as coach of the Golden Gophers with no head coaching experience. Took a bowl team and tried to force feed the spread offense with a QB that is not recruited or meant to run that offense and went 1-11. 55-0 to Iowa, shut out last year by Iowa, a loss to a decent FCS team in NDSU but not the indignity of losing to an FCS team that was predicted to finish fourth in there conference. Those national prognosticators and local media look more and more right every day. This loss to USD Coyotes will linger no matter how much they tell you otherwise. The evidence that this coach will not be a successful head coach seems pretty strong, he has recruited some good talent but I doubt he is going to be able to coach or see this through to fruition.

Emailing maturi wont do *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# to solve the problem, the guys a politician, appease everyone involved, dont commit to anything, make no hard choices. just email bruininks, get rid of them both.

I emailed him to please keep Brewster as its head coach. Hawk fans want him to stay right where he's at, someone needs to be the doormat of the big ten and that the battle is between Indiana and MN....AGAIN. Doesnt matter anyway, the blind are leading the blind. MN has the wrong AD. Remember you wouldnt be in this mess in the first place if not for your AD. Mason was the answer..ah.....NO. Then Brewster was the answer..ah.....NO.

Gophers Deserve Another Rose Bowl Bid (Soon)

Glory years
The Gophers enjoyed quite a bit of success in the early 20th century, posting winning records from 1900 - 1919.
Head coach Henry L. Williams developed the "Minnesota shift", a predecessor to later quick line shifts, which was adopted widely.[2] In 1932, Bernie Bierman became the Gopher head coach and led the Gophers to their first dynasty. From 1934 - 1936 the Gophers went on a run of winning three straight National Championships, the last Division I team to accomplish this feat. During the run, Minnesota went unbeaten in 28 straight games, a school record, 21 of which were consecutive victories. The school record for consecutive victories is 24, which spanned 3 seasons from 1903 to 1905. The Gophers also won two more national championships in 1940 and 1941. Those two seasons comprised most of an 18 game winning streak that stretched from 1939 to 1942.

After some mediocre seasons throughout the remainder of the 1940s and 1950s, the Gophers rose back to prominence in 1960 with their sixth national championship (because polling ended after the regular season, the Gophers were crowned AP and UPI national champions despite losing the Rose Bowl to Washington). That national championship followed a 1-8 record in 1958 and 2-7 record in 1959. Minnesota played in bowl games the two following years as well, in 1961 and 1962. The Gophers earned their first berth in the Rose Bowl by winning the 1960 Big Ten title. The following year, Minnesota returned to Pasadena despite a second-place finish in the conference. The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Big Ten champions in 1961, declined an invitation to the Rose Bowl because of tension between academics and athletics at the school. Minnesota beat UCLA 21-3 to claim its first and only Rose Bowl victory. This game also marked the Gophers last appearance in a New Year's Day bowl game. Minnesota's last Big Ten title was in 1967, tying the Indiana Hoosiers and Purdue Boilermakers atop the standings.

Recent history
After their 8–2 record in 1967, the Gophers would not win 8 games in a season again until they went 8–4 in 1999. Their 10–3 record in 2003 gave the Gophers their first 10 win season since 1905.

The 2006 team had the dubious distinction of blowing a 38–7 third-quarter lead in the Insight Bowl against Texas Tech, losing 44-41 in overtime. The collapse, which was the biggest in the history of Division I-A postseason football, directly led to the firing of head coach Glen Mason. On January 17, 2007, Tim Brewster was officially announced as the next head coach of the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

In 1981, the Gophers played their last game in Memorial Stadium and played their home games in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome until 2008. The Gophers moved back to campus with a 20-13 win against Air Force on September 12, 2009, when their new home, TCF Bank Stadium, opened.
