Inquiring minds wanna know....
Who gives a sh*t?
I don't believe he did.
Dungy has an agenda to pass when it comes to coaching hires. He wanted Fraiser, Shannon, and Sumlin.
See the connection there? Not that there is anything wrong with that. Dungy was passed up for I think almost a dozen HC jobs before landing his first gig in Tampa Bay, so he wants to try and make sure others don't get overlooked.
We're ripping him because he comes he is barely involved in our program, and then comes along and acts like some Savior who's going to bring us an amazing new coach. Then he gets involved in helping other schools find coached, including Indiana! The man should have no input in our program.

When asked by Dan Patrick if either he or Marc Trestman were a candidate for the vacant Gopher job Dungy responded by saying that they should spend their time on Trestman instead because he wasn't interested... in no way was he saying Maturi should hire Trestman. If I am not mistaking, he suggested Minnesota needs to "look at Marc Trestman."

He never officially said "Marc Trestman would be a great head coach and the Gophers should go after him."
He, while on the Dan Patrick show, said they should go after Trestman because he is the most viable ALUM that is currently a coach.
Why does anyone care what Tony Dungy thinks of the new coach? Did we get Bud Grant's seal of approval?
Bemidji has the real Paul Bunyan statue. That other is just a poser.
Funny you should mention that. Kill has apparently gotten into contact with Mr. Grant.
Once he consults the talking Paul Bunyan statue in Brainerd, he'll have completed his tour of approvals from Minnesota icons.
I don't have a problem with him promoting candidates of color. Color should not be the No. 1 reason someone is hired/not hired, but with the lack of minority coaches in Division I football, there's nothing wrong with presenting qualified candidates to make sure they are at least considered for opportunities.
People typically hire people who remind them of themselves or friends that they have, not always necessarily the best candidate based on merit. Making sure that candidates of color are represented -- when they clearly aren't getting jobs across the board -- is a positive thing.
