Oturo wasn’t on a good team as a sophomore. Who is predicting that Payne will average 20 & 11? I do think with an increase in min 15 & 8 is very reasonable

Gophers finished 27th in KenPom his SO year. I get we were a .500 team, but we played good that year. B1G had 12 top 35 teams in KenPom. League was loaded that year.

Samuels was unplayable.

Cooper was terrible

Losing heley hurts, i think hes going to be a good one by the time he graduates.

But to me, last year was rock bottom, so yes they are improved in the backcourt

You think he's going to average 15 & 8 this season?

I would answer the question almost with a "100% yes."

Of course we still have to see how the new guys translate to the Big Ten, but Cooper (our only real ballhandler) was basically on an island most of last season with little help, which wasn't fair to him.

Let's get Shemarri Allen from Kansas City, an experienced (and old) PG with size, and let's see what we can do.

Do we have two more to give away? I was thinking one.

He averaged 8 & 5 while getting only 5 shots a game. He should get at least 9-12 shots per game especially with Jamison gone & if the new guards can draw help thru dribble penetration then he will get a few more drop off layups per game as well. With more minutes he will def average at least 7+ rebounds

Ballhandlers: Mitchell, Hawkins, Christie, Carrington. Everyone else better be have good handles to be on the floor. Payne and Garcia will get plenty of easy points near the basket. We have long range bigs this year. Garcia, Betts, Christie and more. Note that Christie is now 6’7” and likely still growing with point guard skills. Our ball handlers are the key this year. Hawkins has to get the TOS under control. This is a one year turn around. The assists have to go way up.

He's also one dimensional and gets into foul trouble. Both of those will improve as he gets older but that's quite the jump as a SO.

For as good as Jordan Murphy was, he only averaged 11 & 9 as a SO. I think those are more realistic numbers for Payne this season.

How come you aren't mentioning your 3? You know, Fox?

Got it. Christie and Betts all freshman team and Fox is our 3 this season. It's in the books.
Work on your reading comprehension. What I have posted is not what you imagined. I expect Betts and possibly Christie to be our most productive 3s as the season progresses. As far as Fox I only related what someone paid to do team analysis said. He said Fox looked better after the first surgery, but now it is wait and see with both knees. He will be ready to give it a go. We don’t know who all will play the 3 but I expect the 2 freshmen to be very productive. Perhaps it works out that it is Betts with 2 guards and Christie with 3 guards. In any case we will see plenty of both this year and both will have a much bigger positive impact than Battle last year. A really big upgrade at 3 coming. Hope this clears it up some for you.

You didn't add any context to this, but as a freshman, Murphy averaged 11.9 & 8 but the team talent was much worse. The following year Coffey and Spring were added to the roster, and Murph took one shot less, but the team had 5 players averaging 8 shot attempts or more. They also won more that year. Murphy averaged 12 shot attempts as a junior and scored 16 a game. I see Pharrell get closer to 11 12 attempts than 8-9, but I could be wrong

"I have seen knowledgeable basketball experts recents project Fox at the 3 for us this year. Doesn’t sound like a recovery failure to me. We are going to have an extremely good front court with depth. We now look very good in the backcourt even with a 3 guard lineup. Hawkins, Mitchell, Carrington, Christie. Who did I forget? Not writing off Purcell for minutes either. Is Ramberg still a guard. Much better then the ‘holers cry about"

Rockraven post #77 from the Hawkins thread

The Rock, or whatever name he is posting under now, doesn't even remember what the heck he is posting. Never a link to back up his always wrong takes. Bob and many others have called out your b.s. Free country. Keep posting please. I always need a good laugh which your posts usually provide.

Did they improve the back court.... Yes .... That's not the question tho. The question is.... Did they improve it ENOUGH to compete in the B1G..... As it sits now.... I don't think so
