I don't think Tubby recommended Devoe to get rid of him. Even though they had their disagreements, Tubby is a high-class guy and will do what is best for his coaching peers and players. I believe Tubby felt Oregon would be a good fit for Devoe and help him to learn from mistakes.
I agree. Tubby has love for his players. Tubby will always take the high road and, even if someone totally quits on him, kicking this love to the curb, spitting on everything that has been invested in this player over a period of years, countless hours of instruction, support and, at times punishment, for his own betterment, even then, Tubby will do his best to help that person out. Even if the quitting is done gutlessly in mid-season, leaving his teammates, coaches and all others invested in his selfish dust.
This is one of the reasons to revere Tubby.
