Decker + Manning =

If Denver wanted to trade Decker to the Vikes, it would not hurt my feelings any...I wanted the Vikes to draft him in the first place.

Likes that's going to happen. Manning keeps commenting on Deckers skills - he really likes him.

You're right that Peyton was attempting to mentor the Colts QBs last year but this year is an entirely different scenario. Peyton Manning is playing football this year. Last year he was a spectator. I don't see being Peyton Manning's backup as a great opportunity. In fact, I would almost go as far to say that if Adam Weber is successful in the NFL it wil be in spite of being Peyton Manning's backup. You're also right that the Colts didn't put any priority into their backup QBs. Neither have the Broncos. I wouldn't be surprised if Adam Weber goes into the season as the #2 QB. He wouldn't even be the most decorated player to back up Peyton Manning. Some of Manning's backups were drafted (No, that is not a slight on Weber). So, if being Manning's backup in Indy wasn't a great opportunity because the Colts didn't prioritize backup QB, how can it be a great opportunity in Denver? Peyton Manning is meticulous in his preparation. He studies for hours on end, he's going to take every snap in practice until he feels comfortable he can pick the opponent apart. The backup QB is not going to see a snap once the season starts. As a reault of this any time one of Manning's backups have made it on to the field they look completely unprepared. Adam Weber is not going to become a better football player holding a clipboard all day everyday. Decker is going to benefit greatly from this opportunity. Adam Weber not so much.

As for the relationship Weber and Manning established at Manning summer camps. That has nothing to do with this scenario. I guarantee you Manning had a friendship with at least one of his former backups. That sure didn't matter for any of their careers.

I never stated that Peyton was going to mentor Adam Weber. Last season he was a non-drafted QB who was on the practice sqad on the Broncos. This year he may be a rostered 3rd string QB on the Broncos. To be elevated to that position is a hec of an oppurtunity in my book. That was my point. Adam is evidentally a young QB who the Denver braintrust respects. This braintrust is John Elway, John Fox, and the Offensive Coordinator. The fact that they moved on from Kyle Orton,Brady Quinn, and now Tim Tebow and still have Adam Weber could be categorized as Adam figures in their plans more than the QBs I mentioned. Peyton will not mentor anyone now as Broncos QB. Adam Weber , however, can learn a heck of a lot from listening to him break down film as well as watch the master in practice and games.Adam was the survivor amongst all of them.
Thats the great oppurtunity I was referring to.
PS Peyton may go down with injuries this season or beyond this season. If Adam is #2, he is starter. If he is #3 he becomes backup.

Weber is in a completely different category than the 3 you mentioned. Those other 3 were brought in to compete for the starting job last year. Orton and Quinn lost the competition and were free agents after the year. Orton gets traded because he held value and Quinn gets let go in free agency because he's too expensive to resign as a backup. Plus he's really bad. Broncos sign Manning and now Tebow potentially has more value as a trade asset rather than sitting on the bench behind Manning. Football teams get better by improving their assets. By trading Orton and now possibly Tebow, the Broncos feel they can improve their assets. This is business. Weber is there because he is cheap and when Manning is healthy the backup QB doesn't do anything but hold a clipboard. What's more economic a 3 million dollar clipboard holder or a $500,000 clipboard holder?

I bet Weber goes into the season as the #2 QB. However, if Manning gets hurt I doubt Weber will become the starter. At that point they would probably sign a veteran. There's no need to worry about familiarity with the offense because the offense ran by Manning will be different than the one ran by his replacement.

Also, I'll say this again, an average QB can not learn what Peyton Manning does. Peyton Manning knows and does things that can not be executed by an average QB.

Adam Weber is living the dream and is on an NFL roster but the "opportunity" he has in Denver is being extremely blown out of proportion.

Eric Decker is living the absolute dream. He lives and plays in a beautiful city with a HUGE NFL following (they are like Packer Fans). His girlfriend Jesse James is a 10 and now he has Peyton Fricken Manning throwing him the ball. I want to be Eric Decker. I am not ashamed to say that.

You forgot to mention that he also makes a lot of money, maybe not by NFL standards at this point but for 99% of the rest of us he makes really good money. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy though, he really is a genuinely good person. Makes it really easy to pull for a guy like Decker when you see some of the other scumbags littered around the league. Somehow I don't think we will ever read about Deck being involved in domestic abuse, or shooting himself in the leg at a night club.

I'm legitimately worried about his health. That knee injury during the playoffs looked bad. Obviously I hope he recovers well and quickly, but I'm concerned for him.

Tim Tebow officially not a Bronco no more. just got traded to Jets for 2 picks(4th and 6th rounds) per ESPN

He'll be starting for the Jets before the season is half over, and I bet they make the playoffs.

You can never watch this clip too many times. What a catch.

It's been a while since I had seen that replay.

There's no doubt it was a catch (and an amazing one at that), but I'm still not convinced it was a TD. There were no good angles to see whether the ball broke the plane. The camera angle shown most frequently (from the back corner of the endzone) makes it look like the ball went out of bounds outside the pylon (in his left hand), and other angles make it look like it might've been a TD, but it's not conclusive either way.

I see what you mean. I feel as if Decker solidified his draft standing on that one play. His body of work was great, but that play had to make the scouts go "WOW!"

Ruled a touchdown on the field. Not enough evidence to change the call.

If it was ruled NOT a touchdown on the field, not enough evidence to change the call.

Glad it turned out like it did.

You'd be right if the ref didn't say the call was CONFIRMED. When they say it's confirmed, that means there is enough evidence to show that the call was right. When they say it stands, that means there wasn't enough evidence on either side.

Penn State 2009. Derek Moye drags his foot, but ball comes away from his body as he's going to the ground. Ruled incomplete on the field.
Goes upstairs. No way there's enough evidence to overturn.
Referee announces call on the field has been overturned. Penn State screws Gophers again.
Still ticks me off.
