David Cobb isn’t going to be pressured into making a wrong decision.
While four of his Ellison senior teammates signed letters of intent on National Signing Day, Cobb cheered in the audience with the rest of the students, teachers and other on-lookers.
“I really just want to make sure it’s right,” said the 5-foot-8, 210-pound tailback. “I really wasn’t ready and didn’t want to rush it for National Signing Day.
“I really just wanted to enjoy this for my friends and be happy for them, and wait and see what it comes down to.”
A consensus three-star recruit according Rivals.com and Scout.com, Cobb has been waffling over his decision for the last several weeks as he seeks to make an official visit before signing on the dotted line.
To date, Cobb has received six scholarship offers from Division I programs.
Among his suitors are Stanford, Memphis, Texas State, North Texas, Army and most recently Navy, who offered Wednesday morning.
Cobb also has gained attention from coaches from Houston and Minnesota over the past week.
“Stuff is still coming in, so we just want work it out and not miss any opportunity,” Cobb said.
