Dave Revsine: "It's inexplicable that Wisconsin is not in the BCS top 25"

I feel like I am missing some kind of inside joke or something with this whole ruppertflywheel thing. Can anyone throw a bone to the newbies?

This was a really reasonable thread until Ruppert showed up.

I think there can be an argument made both ways, but it is far from a miscarriage of justice, or whatever term was used that the Badgers are not in the top 25 of the BCS.

The Badgers beat bad and average teams very soundly, which is why they look so good in the Sagarin non BCS numbers. That being said, they did not get the job done with OSU for the third year in a row and really have nobody but themselves to blame for those losses. At OSU this year they had every chance to win that game but made huge errors at critical points. As for ASU. that field goal was no mortal lock as it was pointed out, but it would have been nice to get the chance. Fact is, the Badgers had a chance to take control of that game midway through the third quarter and did not get it done. If you look at what ASU has done at home this year, losing by one is no disgrace, but a loss is a loss.

All that being said, the bias in the polls to teams in the SEC is a joke. After Alabama and LSU, the majority of their teams are ranked because they have lost games to the other "great" teams in the SEC and beat absolutely nobody of significance. Hell, after Vandy beat Georgia last week, I thought Georgia was going to move up in the polls because they are Georgia and in the SEC, they must be good.

Finally, as for the schedule, the Badgers are very tough at home so I would expect them to beat BYU, but that game is no lock. At Iowa will be a slugfest but I don't think Iowa has enough on offense to win. If you have 12 teams in the conference, you can't play them all, but I don't think any Badgers fan would be shaking in their boots about playing Michigan, MSU or Nebraska. Nebraska is probably happy, the Badgers don't have the opportunity to drop 70 on them again.

Good luck against Nebraska. Looking forward to another trip to TCF in November.

And Nebraska doesn't have the opportunity to score 20 unanswered points and beat you in Lincoln again.

Nice post, and thanks for the well wishes against Nebraska. If I had one bone to pick with it, it is easy to claim that no Badger fan "would be shaking in their boots about playing Michigan, MSU or Nebraska" when you don't have to play them and see the outcome of the game. While it is intuitive to suggest that Wisconsin got lucky by not having to play those three teams (probably the three best in our division), it might actually hurt you in the long. If you had beaten OSU, that would be a favorable draw for you with all roads leading to Indianapolis. However, as it is, when it comes to making your case in the rankings at the end of the year, you might be stuck in that unfortunate realm where you lost to the only true powerhouse (OSU) on your schedule as well as a solid ASU team, and then you roll off a bunch of wins (possibly blowout wins) against a bunch of bad (Illinois, Purdue) or solid but not great teams (like Iowa, NW, Indiana). Minnesota may have done you a disservice by beating Northwestern last weekend. Hopefully, we rattle of a bunch of big wins, and then you have a chance for a quality win against the Gophers, which I obviously hope you don't get when you play us.

He trolls the Wisconsin board all the time posting nonsense and makes Gopher fans look like idiots.

Good post. Your point about the SEC is valid. I don't think anyone is doubting that they are the best conference in the country, but a lot of their high rankings are based on perception.

I would make sense if sometimes you actually READ and digest a post instead of just seeing who the poster is. As I posted, I haven't been on the Wisconsin fan board for two years and explained why. Now, take a long walk off a short pier.

Now that is laughable Dippy. Pot meet kettle. Dippy, if you had an argument with your dieing mother you would try and get the last word in.

"Pot meet kettle"? I've never visited the Becky board in my life. Good job.

Also, good job bringing my mother into it. What a class act you are.

The same Top 25 that has a mediocre Georgia team with 2 losses at #15? I'd be upset too...

What the hell has any of this trashy, sick, crap got to do with college football?

Serial Killers, Cannibals, and people "enamored" with dead deer make up too large of a percentage of the Dairyland population, making it hard to take seriously what they say.

What kind of low-rent sick stuff do people around here spend their time thinking about. Time to sweep some of this nonsense off this board, I would think. Pretty SAD. Pretty SICK. How disgusting can some people get? Look at yourselves and what you are doing people.

Things don't get too much lower than some of you are trying to take this thread. It reflects VERY poorly on GOPHERHOLE. This is really some of the worst of the worst crap to be found on a football web site. Think about it people. This really is rude, crude and incredibly sick...

The progression of this trash-thread is documented by time, date and moniker. FOOTBALL, people. This needs to be about football: NOT your worst sick and disgusting obsessions....

Get back on track GOPHERHOLE. What kind of crap are you trying to convey to your readers GOPHERHOLE? Man/woman up and do you job moderators. This subject matter really sucks.

Apparently you have never been to Wisconsin. It may or may not be relevant to football but it is the truth.

Go Gophers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update:

Even after their bye week, the Badgers' conference wins (Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue) remain winless in Big Ten play.

That said, beat Iowa on the road this weekend and the Badgers have their first quality win. The Hawkeyes are playing good football. BYU the following week would be a quality win, too.
