Danny Collins

Miserable day, Chicago never disapp the so much cleaner than mpls light rail
On Orange line to midway now, zero bullshit on this train

Harbaugh called a great game today and Lindsey played like he hasn't for weeks. Harbaugh exposed what was considered a good defense. Any time you score over 30 against a conference opponent, you get a kudos in my book.
35 points notwithstanding, 14 of those were basically from special teams.

The offense was decent today but definitely not above criticism.
Sucked through one quarter, went into a shell after taking the 28-13 lead.

Still not much run game.

Again, neither the punter, kicker, or kick returner punched those touchdowns into the end zone. Collins deserves everyone's wrath today, not Harbaugh.

Fact that our zone drops are so bad that we have to play man, thats the problem
With ZERO improvement all season!

On one of the long third down plays, I saw three guys drop into their “zones” and all three were standing there, staring at the QB and were close enough to touch each other.

Wait till after whiskey game till you defend Harbaugh..my guess you’ll want his head on a chopping block. But I hope you’re right.

Why are stubbornly devoted to zone and prevent D? It doesn’t work! Change it up once in awhile. What is Collins thinking? And our blitzes always come from the same spot! Change it up!

I'm fairly consistent with giving credit when it's due and being critical when it's not. Harbaugh is allowed to call a decent to good game and deserves some credit when he does, such as today. Yes, he's had some head scratchers this year, but again, this wasn't a "little sisters of the poor" defense we were facing. If you give the guy good pieces, such as a balanced offensive line who can both run and pass block and skill players who can avoid injury (looking at the rb stable), he can call the types of games that keep us in the upper third to half of the conference in the W/L column.

Defense, on the other hand, has been an abomination. Today was by far the worst performance I've seen this season in terms of zero pass rush and no pressure generated when blitzing, leading to tons of opportunities in the backfield. We may as well have committed to three man rushes the entire game for all the good we did, Stone looked like Brees when he's been a JJ McCarthy all year.

Collins needs to be demoted back to safeties coach and we need to hire a dedicated, experienced DC.

A kickoff return to the 5 yard line in my opinion, special teams gets full credit for a TD. A muffed punt inside the 30, I give special teams credit for at least 3 points. No question the offense was better than the defense but it required unexpectedly good individual effort by Lindsey and WRs. Also Northwestern best pass rusher was out so he had loads of time.

Besides being gifted great field position twice, as noted above, the offense contributed to this mess by falling behind--yet again.

They've scored 25 points in 3 games this year, one of which was NW LA School of Cosmetology.

Harbaugh's offense has been subpar his entire time here
I agree. Offense was bailed out by Kio early and NW muffed punt later.

Yah, I’m making the call now. I was hoping to go to Nashville not Detroit. Finish the year with the axe and sign the excellent recruiting class will be a win at this point
Excellent? It’s ranked 16th or 17th per player in the conference.

I mean has anyone ever seen him and Rob Smith in the same room together?
Robb Smith is the Defensive Coordinator for Rutgers and the Gophers played Rutgers this year. So in theory they were both at Huntington Bank Stadium this year.

Despite PJ’s habitual slow start, the Offense averaged 6.7 yards per play for the game (with an ineffective run game)! No turnovers. Threw downfield. Scored 5 TDs. All in only 19 minutes of possession time! Sorry, but against NW’s defense that is a straight A. Koi had 242 kick return years today. That’s an A++. There are HS FG kickers (and probably kickers on our bench) more accurate beyond 40 than the Gopher's, and with a kicker of simply average accuracy the Gophs might well have won this game.

But the Defense simply imploded. It allowed a middling offense to run 70 plays and average 7.5 yards per play. It allowed a decent but not great QB to throw for 305 yards with a completion rate of 83.3%. And it allowed NW to have a TOP of over 40 minutes! In a supposed “toss up” game! This loss is 100% on the Defense. And we have a lot of individual talent on D. It’s a mystery.

There are companies that make pretty good masks.

Stuff like this is coaching/lack of execution, not talent. Just completely inexcusable for it to be this easy.
